If we had drafted Russell Wilson...

...and if we still had the first pick, would you still take a quarterback with that first pick?

Just curious. I haven't seen enough of Wilson to make a long-term call yet. From a statistical standpoint it seemed like the team was protecting him a lot earlier in the year, but anecdotally it seemed like he improved as the year progressed.

This Wilson kid wouldn't have fooled the Chiefs coaches in training camp. Matty was their guy and they were gonna stick with a winner. Any other move is just too reckless and risky

Is the Green Bay front office some kind of secret society where only those trained in the ways of Truth and Knowledge may know happiness? You have Ted Thompson, the guy in charge, but then you also have Reggie McKenzie and John Schneider who have already found GM jobs. You have John Dorsey reportedly going over to KC. And that's not even counting Russ Ball, Eliot Wolf, and all the other personnel guys they have on staff who are equally as qualified to run a team.

Is everyone there in the draft war room just like, "I think we should take Casey Hayward and solidify the starting CB position for the next 12 years."

"Oh, that's a great idea! You are indeed wise!"

"Oh, stop, you're the one who found Tramon Williams several years ago."

"Fellas, we can gush over each other, or we can give credit to the REAL man in charge, Ted Thompson!"

"Aww guys. You know I'd be nothing without you."

Green Bay's director of college scouting and Ted Thompson have a pre-draft meeting:

If we had drafted Wilson, Pioli and Romeo might still be employed. Think about that.

If you saw someone you thought was a sure-fire franchise QB in the draft, take the QB and let them compete in training camp next year. Then trade the guy you decide not to start.

If you think the QBs in this class are as questionable as is widely reported, ride Russell for another year and use the top pick to beef the team up around him.

If Russel Wilson was in this draft people would be saying the same things. There are QBs worth drafting high. I would take Geno or Tyler wilson #1 overall with the rookie pay scale, but not if we had RW already. I would ride Wilson and build around him. The kid is a winner plain and simple.

Russell would have played better than Shane Falco's cousin during the preseason and would have received snaps at some point in time this season. People mistakenly think that Stanzi didn't play because Pioli is inept; Stanzi didn't play because he stinks (Pioli is still inept).

this

there is no way he would have stepped on the field for us. So yes, we would still draft Geno.

I just wondered how confident we (and Seattle) really are that he's a long-term franchise quarterback.
Yeah, I think it's a combination of things. Their running game is really good, their defense is really good, they were way ahead in a lot of games so they didn't need to pass, etc. I wouldn't be concerned about his passing yards with all those other factors in play.

JFC!

OUR QUARTERBACKS ARE MATT CASSEL AND BRADY QUINN.

WE HAVE DEALT WITH THOSE JACKASSES AND DAMON HUARD/BRODIE CROYLE/TYLER THIGPEN FOR 7 YEARS.

WE HAVE NOT TAKEN A QUARTERBACKS IN THE 1ST ROUND IN 30 YEARS.

AND YOU DONT WANT TO TAKE A QUARTERBACK IN THE 1ST ROUND AGAIN BECAUSE THERES NOT A QB PROSPECT AS GOOD AS ANDREW LUCK, A ONCE A DECADE TYPE SURE THING QB?

WHAT THE **** IS WRONG WITH CHIEFS FANS!?!?!?!?!

What/who do you want to take? There's not even a clear cut #1 guy at ANY other position, but even if there was, WE HAVE NO ****ING QUARTERBACK.

After all these years of no playoff wins & shitty QBs, you'd think this franchise would be clamoring for any QB with potential.

Its like Chiefs fans have just ignored the NFL the past decade. YOU NEED A QUARTERBACK TO WIN/CONSISTENTLY BE A PLAYOFF/SUPER BOWL THREAT.

Seriously. My mind is boggled by the amount of dumbassery our fanbase has shown and will most likely continue to show until the draft.

These 3 months are going to be torture.
