Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

https://twitter.com/intent/user?scre...w_p=tweetembed

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

You better wait until SNR or Hamas can answer that for GoChiefs. The first original thought he has will be the first.

Yes, absolutely on the QB grades. It’s a little unfair, but we saw the same thing with defensive tackles the year after Ndamukong Suh and Gerald McCoy were taken in the top three. But we also saw this in 2004 after Manning, Rivers and Roethlisberger were picked. For the next couple of years, QBs will be compared to Luck, RG3, Tannehill and Russell Wilson (not so much Brandon Weeden).

To succinctly answer your question, they’ll be skewed this year, but things will settle next year. Then Teddy Bridgewater will re-raise the bar in 2014. Book it.

"Our goals"?

JFC, after going 4-12, 2-14, 4-12, 10-6, 7-9 and 2-14, the immediate goal should be to field a competent, competitive football team.

Becoming a Super Bowl team doesn't happen overnight. The Atlanta Falcons drafted Matt Ryan #3 overall and have given up multiple draft choices over the past several years in order to surround him with talent, and just THIS YEAR, they finally broke through and won a single playoff game.

You're delusional if you believe that the Chiefs aren't attempting to build a Super Bowl caliber team but that doesn't happen in ONE YEAR.

If Geno goes in the top ten it will be a reach. Someone will do it, it's become the thing to do.

The recent QB reaches, all seem to turn out to be what people thought they were. Weeden, Ponder, Locker and the like. Nothing special. Right now I'll take Smith over the recent QB reaches.

Because of last year's draft class, and morons like Kiper and Miller.

And you don't know that they don't like Geno. It was reported after the combine that the Chiefs were impressed with him.

sighs. Geno clearly doesnt have undeniable talent. If he did, if it was just a talent issue, they would take him. If he was in the talent class of RG3, then they would take him, and it would be a no brainer. No talent evaluators, say that he is in that class. hes NOT.

I would JIMP if we did that....(and had developed a 27 year old matt ryan)..where do you see us in several years with Alex Smith at the helm?

Yes, so impressed that they traded for Alex Smith.

Deductive reasoning isn't your strength.

Oh, that's bullshit.

The guy isn't in the same league as Cam Newton or even Sam Bradford. He failed to play like a franchise QB in his biggest games, didn't put the team on this back and win.

Cam Newton won an NCAA National Championship and a Junior College National Championship. Sam Bradford played lights out OU.

Geno Smith's pedigree isn't even close to either of those guys, not to mention Luck or Griffin.

And it's been reported that the Chiefs traded for Alex Smith, so they must not have liked him enough to draft him.

Compared to. Nowhere does it say that Aaron Rodgers dropped because of those other QBs.

These are very valid points to make to DRAFT A QBOTF!!!!!!!!!! It doesn't take overnight and we can build for long term success and then hope for the best to win the ****ing Super Bowl in a time span of 10 years. That's the kind of window of opportunity a franchise QB can make and you can get that franchise QB with the first pick of the draft picking the best prospect at that point. JHC this isn't rocket science.

**** the five year plan retread course and **** Alex Smith.

Just ridiculous, Dane.

Cam Newton barely threw for 3,000 yards in college and ran the ****ing option. He had multiple character concerns and was a questionable passer.

But he was still picked #1, because he had sick ****ing talent.

Geno is a far, far superior prospect.
