sooo, I might be moving to Kansas...

...from San Diego and was hoping to get some feedback.

I've been wanting to move to the Mid West for sometime now and think it is about time I do so.

I've been to Lawrence, Overland Park and KC a few times and like it quite a bit.

Can anyone give me a ballpark number of what the cost of a nice home is? Say 4 bedrooms, 2 baths in a nice neighborhood? What about the cost to rent a house?

Lawrence seems like a cool college town to live in. I have visited a few times there and like it.

So thats it...just looking for a change.

Lastly, does that mean I have to convert to a Chiefs fan if I move to KS?

I'm sorry to hear that.... but we will gladly take another Chiefs fan. The "real" ones are leaving the stadium.

I think it would be easier if you tols us what your price range is for your next home. Four bedrooms and 2 baths isn't telling us a whole lot, really. You can get a dumpy 4/2 really cheap or you can pay a lot if it is really nice....I know that really doesn't answer your question, but without any parameters it is hard to tell you what to expect.

I will say this, however, Lawrence tends to be one of the pricier towns in Kansas but it is still a fraction of what it would cost to live in San Diego.

Welcome to the Sunflower state.

Depending on area.. but I would say you could get a decent 4/2 for 150k ish?? if its in a suburb

I'm in the northland of KC and there were a lot of new houses built in the last 4 years that are now for sale.. for less than they went for 4 years ago... some steals to be had I'm sure

Do you own your house in San Diego? If so, sell it and buy three here.

I moved my family here from Los Angeles in 2004 and I can tell you from my house hunting then, you'll get more for your money on the Missouri side. We found a 3 year old 4 bdrm, 2.5 bathroom, full basement in a nice neighborhood for under $200K. For the same money on the Kansas side we were being shown 30 year-old houses.
