Gonna quit smoking tomorrow

I'm actually really afraid of this. Need to do it, hate that I do it now. In a great amount of fear that I'll fail.

I quit smoking 793 days ago

You can do it. I was a pack to a pack and a half a day guy. Watch out when drinking that's when the slip usually happens. Eventually you will get to where I am and realize that shit is filthy and smells like death.

Watch those terry videos

I'm terry and I used to be a smoker

Best of luck to you. Stay strong, it's behavior modification

Actually, I lied. I did do something. I got sick as hell. I came down with pneumonia, COULDN'T smoke for a week or so, and told myself that was the end.

And it was.

You can do it. Haven't smoked a cigarette in years. I still smoked cigars, but finally quit that as well a few months ago.

The physical dependence was easy to get over, in my opinion, and was gone for me after about 2-3 weeks. The hard part for me was mental. You really don't need them. Not at all. For probably 3-4 months after I quit, I ALWAYS had Altoids with me. Feel the urge, have an Altoid or two. It's not the same, but it will help to get past the oral fixation.

I'm telling you, if you REALLY want to quit, you'll get it done. When I quit, I wanted to, badly. I did the same thing losing weight; since 2010, I've almost 100 pounds, and it's a product of just being done with whatever the bad behavior is. My best description of my attitude about it was to a friend of mine that asked, "you're quit smoking and lost a ton of weight, what did you change?". My response was, "Nothing, I was just done with it."

That's funny
I was sick last week and felt so shitty I only had 3-4 cigs that day (usually 1-1.5 packs per day). I think that made me feel this was doable.

I know it's not smoking but it is about addiction. I just read Tim Cowlishaw's book "Drunk On Sports" that might help. It was a fantastic book.

Good luck.

As 'roundup' said you have to set yourself up for success and recognize your 'associative triggers' and deflect with healthy habits taking their place.

I wouldn't even approach this 'UNTIL" you have studied your 'associative triggers'(at home, on the road, at work, at play) and have a plan in place to successfully combat all these scenarios.

This coincides with about 3-4 big life changes I'm looking at, so maybe I'll have the luck you did. Thanks.

Good for you.

The shit wrecks your immune system and is just overall one of the worst habits you could ever have the misfortune of picking up. Costs a ****ton, makes you smell like shit, yellows your teeth, and slowly kills you.

Eric, remember this, it's not luck. You have the power in you to do this. Period. You'll have moments where you'll want to revert, but if you truly want to quit, those moments will be your tests. And I think that if you want to, you can pass them.

You can do it sir. We all believe that you can.

3yrs before my father died he dealt with his oral fixation with 'tootsie pops'.

I love to smoke. Gives you something to do when bored, keeps you skinny, looks cool, what are supposed to do with your hands when you are outside?

All this. Unless you go out with another smoker, girls don't want to smell stink on you.

I knew a guy who bought himself a Harley Davidson from the money he saved from not smoking after two years. I should have learned from that guy.

Have to discipline yourself to do it.
