Favorite picks by value for each round

Here the picks that I envy the most by round with value and fit.

1st round: Jalen Carter

Getting Carter at 9 is a steal for the eagles. He’s the best DT prospect since suh in 2010. And I believe the car racing incident will be good for him in the long run. Fear is a good motivator to stay out of trouble and he’s joining a bunch of Georgia players that will help Keep his head right and motivated.

Round 2: Isaiah Foskey

I love the fit here for the ultra athletic Foskey with high motor to work with Cam Jordan and be tutored by him. Foskey has the motor and tools to excel and it’s hard not envy his size and athletic traits combined with that work ethic. Cam Jordan will coach him up. He will also be pushed by Payton Turner & Granderson so the competition will help him.

Round 3: Hendon Hooker

Hooker gets an opportunity to sit behind Goff and learn. I like his confidence and ability to throw the deep ball, which he showed both against bama when TN beat them. Great value to add your potential QBOTF in the third. Hooker has a lot of great traits that could set him up to be a long term star for the lions.

4th round: Adetomiwa Adebawore

I might miss this bc there must be something there that I don’t see. This kid is a worker and has a crazy motor, lots of energy and is a freak. 6’2” 280 lbs and runs like a rb with 4.49 speed. He’s raw but I could see this kid developing and having an opportunity next to Buckner on passing downs as an interior pass rusher with his long arms.

5th round: Chase Brown

Brown may have a chance with mixon always getting in trouble. Brown is one bad decision away from being the starter with Perine now in Denver. Brown has the speed, vision and some power and can catch and block. He could explode if given an opportunity, which will probably happen with mixons history of bad decisions. Great value here for brown in the 5th.

6th round: Zack Evans

Sorry to go back to back rbs but I love the fit here. Rams got even better value here than the bengals with Evan’s. He will compete against Cam Akers and Kyren Williams but this kid has a feel for the game and talent. I would be surprised to see him get some significant work and touches with the rams.

7th round: Colton Dowell

I have no idea but this guy jumped out to me. The 6-foot-3, 212-pound Dowell put on a show at his pro day in the 40 (4.42 seconds), jumping drills (41 1/2-inch high jump, 11-foot-1 broad) and bench press (23 reps). Those are eye-popping numbers for the local product. -- by Eric Edholm

And when I pulled up the tape, he moved really well for a guy that size and had a good day against UT. The titans are thin at WR, so maybe dowell will get an opportunity. Hooker to Dowell would be an interesting long term connection for the titans.

I think Andre Carter going UDFA may have been the best value in the draft, honestly.

I'm not sure Minnesota was the place for him. But if, say, he ended up redshirting for a year in KC with Frank Clark on the roster, he'd be good to start taking quality snaps his sophomore year.

I was never high on Zach Evans -- his entire college career is full of question marks, honestly. And I was never as high on Ade Ade as everybody else was, but I do agree he's fantastic value in the 4th.

I think the rest of the league is going to sorely regret what the Eagles did in this draft. Taking Carter and Smith in the 1st round, along with that insane Jalen Hurts extension, is going to win them at least one Super Bowl in the next three years. Howie Roseman is a god.

Carter was poo-poo'd a bit on this forum due to really big character and work ethic concerns, but he's in probably the best locker room in the NFL. I think he's an All Pro by year three, and Nolan Smith is not going to be far behind.

As discussed elsewhere, Carter just scares the hell out of me as a prospective GM.

He could absolutely boom and be a DPOY type guy in the middle, or he could bust hard.

I think he's going to be Albert Haynesworth, in terms of his career arc.

He's in the best possible situation for him. There is no other team you could put him on that will better handle him. The Eagles have the best locker room in the NFL, Georgia teammates, and veteran leadership all over that defensive line and team.

He's going to blow up the NFL.

Then... he's going to get paid $120m by some stupid team like the Redskins did with Haynesworth, and he's going to flop around on the turf in the middle of a play and get bounced out of the league.

I really don't understand the Howie Roseman hype. He's been GOOD, I think, but I don't get GOD status there.

Howie has flipped guys for first rounders, hit on picks, gotten good value free agents etc.

It'd be hard to say he's not a top 2 or 3 GM in the league.

He's a god. He achieved god status this offseason.

He snatched two of the ten best players in this draft in the first round. He signed the best QB in the NFC to what basically amounts to $25m/year. He made his running game better, faced down an offseason where nine defensive starters were set to hit free agency and managed to keep the defense just as good. They should lead the league in sacks again next year.

And just to make me happy he brought Jason Kelce back for one last run.

I ask you: what more could he have done this offseason? Literally nothing.

Veach and John Schneider in Seattle are the only ones I can think that hold a candle to him.

And Roseman got Penny and Swift to replace Saunders. The only thing he could’ve done better would’ve been to get Calvin Ridley instead of letting him go to Jacksonville.

But of course, like everyone else, he makes mistakes like missing out on Jefferson.

I keep hearing that all those Georgia players are going to help Carter? Apparently they weren't helping enough back in January.

Personally, I think the veterans you're about to surround him with are going to be doing the heavy lifting.

I just watched a show on the mannings and Archie said that Eli’s turning point was his public intoxication arrest at ole miss. I expect jalen Carter to have a similar turn around. Fear is a good motivator and he was clearly scared. Jalen Carter is going to the pro bowl next year.
