Humans are wired to want what they potentially might not be able to have. Classic psychology move here. The take away. Whether the Chiefs are truly interested or not who knows but they are doing a good job of ????????????

They must show interest and legitimize Geno IF they want another team to emotionally and psychologically justify their own move to trade up especially when YOU are team that is in just as much need of a QBOTF as well and all you have is Captain America. Reid has a huge rep for finding and developing QBs and if Reid doesn't show any interest then that will 'SPOOK' others as well. Don't want to spook if you are trying to find a trading partner.

I guess it would depend on just badly a QB starved team wants Geno. If it looks like the only way they can keep us from getting him is sell their souls to us, my reasoning makes perfect sense.

It could mean one of two things. 1. KC wanted Geno all along but thought they could trade down for him (by pretending to be interested in a LT). 2. KC was never interested and knows that with Jacksonville wanting Geno at #2, they now know that other teams will have to trade past Jacksonville to get him. In both cases, it's not a coincidence that they started showing interest in Geno after Jacksonville did.

I still think that they want to trade down and take Barkley, maybe Fisher.

If Jacksonville wanted to trade down, they'd be pumping up Oakland's interest in Geno Smith, not their own.

If it comes off that Jacksonville is interested in Geno, it increases our chance of a trade down.

How did he do in interviews? Russell might have been the most physically gifted QB ever, but he showed he was lazy POS. That should have been found out through interviews, background checks etc. Maybe it was an Oakland ignored it...wouldn't shock anyone.

Also, coaching has a LOT to do with a QB bust rate IMO. Oakland is/was/will likely be for a long time, a complete mess. When you surround a good person with nothing but trash then that person will likely become what he's surrounded by day in day out. If Russell would have been drafted by NE then I'd think he'd have a lot more success.
