Terelle Pryor gets start vs. San Diego

Terelle Pryor will start Sunday in place of Palmer (out with injury).

Time for his performance evaluation.

Pryor is definitely a project, but one hell of an intriguing prospect. He's definitely poised with really impressive pocket presence. There were at least a couple of occasions where he should have been sacked, but he escaped and much more impressively, kept his head up and found the open man.

That said, though he seems more accurate than tebow and seemed to do a pretty good job reading the defense, his form is weird as hell and he's streaky accurate and then inaccurate. His footwork to my untrained eye, looks off and you never get the feeling he's gunning a throw in there.

Still, not bad for a young'un
Yeah, my expectations were pretty low...only real playing time he's seen since Ohio State was a preseason game against Detroit.

Rivers: 13 completions for 151 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT, -3 yards rushing
Pryor: 13 completions for 150 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT, 49 yards rushing, 1 rushing TD
Rivers - 3 yards rushing were the final nails in the Turd coffin. I would encourage the Raiders to see where Prior can take them next year.

They may, if they can find someone who wants Palmer. Worst case scenario, they suck and get a QB in 2014.

Hopefully Norv comes back as our OC. He'd probably provide some solid intel for our two SD games as well.

Those numbers don't really tell the entire story.

Rivers was 13 out of 17 for a 142 QB rating and no turnovers.
Pryor was 13 out of 28 for a 72 QB rating with a red zone interception, a bonehead not getting out of bounds to run out the end of the first half when they could have tried a long FG, and another fumble that he batted out of bounds for a penalty. He is VERY raw.

Clearly he is a big, strong, fast guy who can buy time and make plays, but...

RG3 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Newton >>>>>> Pryor > Tebow

It looks like the Raiders may be in a position, next year, to have a top pick with no clear cut top QB in the draft.
My suggestion to the Riaders would be to do the oppposite of whatever KC does this year unless that means drafting a player like Terrance Copper.

This man can do it all...

Really? You don't think there will be a QB in 2014 at least as good if not better than Smith or Barkley? From what I've heard, the QBs will be BETTER in 2014.

Name one. Bray was the only guy on the radar and he's declared after a crappy season. There are no Lucks or RGIIIs in the pending future.

How about Levi Brown from the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He's 6-4 225.

Wow, your cat is taller than 6' 1"? That's a big cat.

Seems like the guy has pretty decent stats to me. And yet you seem to believe that he's a significant drop-off in talent from Smith and Barkley. Do tell.

Smith and Barkley are a significant drop-off in talent from Luck and RGIII. If you're happy to settle for a QB of substandard skill, you are rooting for the right team. Palmer is better than any "little person" available in next yerar's draft.
The Raiders could take a flyer on a prospect this year, (Landry, Bray, etc...), but they're still trying to figure out what they have with Pryor. They should go to Saskatchewan to find a QB.
I love Regina, I love Regina, I love Regina...(repeat this as a mantra when you feel down about the Raiders)

They can't all be like Rivers, you know, the QB that led his team to a Lombardi.

No, not Rivers, who was that SD QB that led his team to a Lombardi?

You talk like Sandy Eggo is some powerhouse franchise.

I really liked what I saw from Terrelle Pryor on Sunday. He showed leadership, poise and heart.

He is not a finished product, but I think there is something Oakland can work with. There are a lot of young, dynamic quarterbacks in this league. I think Oakland had to make developing Pryor quickly a priority. Carson Palmer is 33, expensive, and not improving.

If Pryor makes big strides in the offseason, I don’t think it would be a terrible idea for Oakland to consider handing him the starting job. This team will be still rebuilding for the next couple of years. Might as well give the kid a chance.

If he sucks worse than he did today, you can throw him in the middle of the shit pile of failed Raiders QBs. Of course, sitting at the top of that shit mountain is Mr. Russell.
