Mizzou fans need your opinion

If the Broncos are in fact eyeing Lock - what's your take on him?

This is what CBS has to say:

Quote:
10. Denver Broncos
Drew Lock, QB, Missouri. Some look at Drew Lock and see Patrick Mahomes. Others see Paxton Lynch. Or Jay Cutler. Or Josh Allen. Or even Matthew Stafford, by our own Chris Trapasso. Which comparison is closest? The only thing that matters is what Broncos brass sees when they look at Lock, and we know they are in fact looking, with John Elway recently scouting the Missouri quarterback. The Broncos decided to pass on Josh Allen and Josh Rosen last year, but I think they take the plunge at QB in the 2019 draft.

Better than Gabbert. Of course, that's not saying much.

Would not want him in KC.

Mizzou fan here.

Drew has bust written all over him if he's put in a bad situation. If groomed properly, he has the tools to be a solid NFL starter.

That being said, the Mahomes comparisons are ridiculous. I think his best case is a Matthew Stafford type player, as others have alluded to in this thread. Tall guy, with a big arm and not much mobility.

If he goes to Denver we have nothing to worry about.

I think Drew would compare to a guy like Andy Dalton. Strong Arm, makes poor decisions with the football at times and nothing really spectacular about him. I think he will be lucky to have the career that Dalton has but Dalton landed in a good spot with low expectations and I think that is what Drew needs, a place that will let him grow slowly. Denver is not that place.

I want the Broncos to suck forever and drafting Lock that high would certainly help with that.

I'm from Blue Springs - went to Lee's Summit my Freshman year - Believe me; I'd do everything I could to defend him. In my opinion he's lacking the 'it' factor once he arrives into the NFL - now maybe he'll find it. But he seems to struggle under pressure to win a game, especially 'must wins'

Paxton Lynch QB rating, Memphis: 137.0
Locktober rating, Mizzouche: 137.7

Paxton Final season: 296-443 66.8% 3776 28/4
Loctober final season: 275-437 62.9% 3498 28/8

Locktober gets a marginal benefit playing SEC defenses. But they both played 1/3 of their games vs poopy teams anyway.

Whoever he compares best to, I don't think Denver would be a good place for him to go. He needs to sit for a year (minimum) behind an established pro.
