What I think is that we are goin to have a killer defense this year, the defense of the 90's is back, with a offense of the 00's, yea baby.

I like Hodge as a possibility, at least to replace Battle. I like Boomer as a ST stud. Hope Gun can turn him into a LB contributor.

I don't get Long. Seems more of an edge rusher in a 3-4 than a true OLB in 4-3.

Haven't decided on Kilian and Svitek. Svitek's obviously a project a la Brian Waters. He's intriguing, just don't know if he'll develop.

Long's the only one I really scratched my head at.

I think we did well, but I'm sure the Chiefs will be graded poorly by most of the analysts in the field.
...as they usually are.

Picks I liked:
Derrick Johnson - self explanatory I'd say, fills a major need. will be a starter.

Dustin Colquitt - punting was a weakness and I trust Vermeil knowing this area of the game. will win the starting spot.

Craphonso Thorpe - seems like the injury was a deterent to most teams. I think he's going to be on the practise squad and get limited reps as he learns the offense, might go to europe for a year. two year project with great potential.

Boomer Grigsby - will make the team as a ST'er. Needs a lot of work to round out into a complete player. 3 year project.

Alphonso Hodge - will compete in training camp for practice squad spot. there are corners that come out of no where like ricky manning jr. I don't have much to say about this guy, he could have been in the undecides if he played any other position than CB. Byebye bartee.

Haven't decided yet
Jeremy Parquett
Khari Long - might be a linebacker down the road 4-5 year project
Will Svitek - will never make the conversion to OL - 4-5 year project
James Kilian - I like the fact he's mobile. Will run the practice squad and NFL europe. can't envision him ever starting unless he's a complete surprise, but for a 7th big deal. he MIGHT make a McNabb-Vick type play that generates some excitement.

I am hoping that Hodge really pans out and we show Bartee the door

I think we went into the draft with a plan and stuck to it, certain positions were mentioned before the draft of areas where we wanted to upgrade and they made those picks to hopefully do that. Also sounds like we really added lots of speed to the defense with Surtain,Johnson and Hodge if we can get him on the field.

True, i like how they always give they highest grades to the teams that had the #1-5 picks. Uhhhhh...DUH!! They had "Pick of the litter" in every round dumbass! Of course they had the best picks!

Not too crazy about
James Kilian (I think Gino Giudugli would have been a better choice)
Khari Long (this pick is a head scratcher, he better be good on special teams)

Overall: A-, this is the best draft in recent memory.

I sit back and laugh when posters get ticked about draft choices taken in the 6th and 7th round. The draft is a crapshoot all together, and your complaining about a 6th and 7th draft choice? Most will be placed on the PS anyway.

I loved the DJ, Colquitt, Thorpe and especially the Alphonso Hodge pick. Hodge was rated as a top 10 CB in numerous mock drafts. We got him in the 5th round. A shutdown CB.

All the others, I'll take a wait and see approach.

I really have no problem with any of our picks. I obviously love getting DJ and I think the punter was a smart move but the the QB and the DE are kind of WTF picks IMHO but all around I think we did real well.

Tuckdaddy with no real complaints. Crapman can fly down the the field.

Not a good second day IMO.

We drafted two players projected to be undrafted free agents and passed on quite a few players that had better potential to compete for special teams spots, if not spot roles.

I'm happy with the Johnson, Surtain, Colquitt, and Thorpe for the first four picks. All will make the team.

After that, I like Alphonso Hodge- I thought he would be a mid-late round steal, and we did pick him up. "Boomer" Grigsby- I'm just totally sold on this guy, and hope this kid will make the team because he just knows what to say and has that reckless, yet intelligent attitude you just love in a player. Most likely, he'll be a special teams player- but a guy like that ought to improve your special teams.

After that- A resounding F! They not only got reaches in the later rounds, but they picked guys who they could have picked up as undrafted free agents. I felt as though a handful of guys were sitting out there in limbo just ripe for picking, but we passed on these tremendous projects that will not make the team. They might as well call them tomorrow and say, "We're sorry if we got you excited, but there's really no reason to show up to training camp. Here's fifty bucks for your troubles."

I give the Chiefs draft an A-

With the first 3 picks they get instant impact players (I'm counting Patrick Surtain as the 2nd round pick).

Today in the 4th and 5th rounds they were able to address depth at WR, LB and CB and I liked all 3 players they selected with those picks, especially Crap Thorpe.

The only reason my grade is an A- and not an A is because of the draft picks in the 6th and 7th rounds. All those players look like major projects and other than maybe one of the offensive linemen I don't see any of the players making the roster.

Overall one of the best drafts in the Peterson era

Picks I liked:
Derrick Johnson
Alphonso Hodge-Appears to be good measurables at need position
Jeremy Parquett- Big SOB at soon to be need position
Craphonso Thorpe-Big upside and talent at a need position
Will Svitek-Not sure what they will do with him but very good athlete for such a huge kid and has to be smart being from Stanford
Boomer Grigsby-Looks like a real sleeper and a mean football player.

Neutral
Dustin Colquitt-Goog college kickers often don't translate to the NFL. Odds are high he ends up a middle of the road punter and you can get those as FA's every year...Hope he turns into a great long term answer but would have never spent that high a pick on a punter.

Didn't Like:
James Kilian-Low completion % and more INT's than TD's...not a good combination for success at the NFL level.
Khari Long-Looks like a very good athlete on paper but his production didn't match his size, speed and strength numbers which typically means the player is mentally soft or a bit lazy...Not a horrible pick as he has physical skills that could make him a player but would have been a great spot to get a QB like Derrick Anderson.
