Amazon, Disney in play for Sunday Ticket

DirecTV going the way of the dodo, hopefully.

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...sunday-ticket/

Quote:
Before the next wave of TV deals will be negotiated, the NFL will surely be doing its biggest deal yet in the environment where much of what used to be viewed on TV is now being consumed.

Via NBCNews.com, the NFL could move its out-of-market streaming rights to Amazon or Disney. Amazon already streams Thursday Night Football, and Disney would surely love to boost the offerings of its in-house streaming service, ESPN+.

Recent tensions have emerged between the NFL and AT&T, which has purchased DirecTV.
Meanwhile, ESPN has worked hard to rebuild bridges to 345 Park Avenue, and Amazon has become a behemoth in the streaming/sales space. Its value comes from the merger of viewing preferences and purchase habits, enabling Amazon to tailor commercials to viewers, who can make a purchase with the click of a button while otherwise watching a game.

Per the report, the NFL also has considered Google and Netflix for a streaming deal. The former has been “on and off”; the latter has never shown interest.

AT&T abruptly dropped NFL Network from Uverse and DirecTV now this week, while keeping NFLN in the DirecTV lineup. This development surely doesn’t make it more likely that DirecTV and the NFL will renew its longstanding arrangement, which began in 1994.

It’s possible that, in the end, DirecTV will keep the satellite rights while another company assumes the streaming of the games, allowing people in rural areas that lack high-speed Internet access to continue to watch all Sunday afternoon games and giving the NFL a potent double-dip with big fees both from DirecTV and a new streaming partner.

Thank God. The NFL limiting Sunday ticket to a clunky satellite dish for this long was a stupid stupid decision, I don't care how much money directv gave them. There's a reason the game is much more unpopular with young kids.

Man AT&T is getting ****ed in the ass in this market. Dumbasses want to be an entertainment company but don’t realize that competition will destroy them.

I thought Amazons Thursday night stream was great.

But the Hannah Storm, Andrea Kremer alternate feed was bad. Neither is good at play by play.

I agree but it goes much more deeper IMHO.

There are a lot of reasons in our culture/society why boys are being steered away from American football. But the biggest reason IMHO is the disintegration of the "American family unit" either because of divorce/extremely passive father at home who does not care. Absent fathers have had the biggest negative impact on our society for sure. Judeo/Christian values are out the window of this country and have been for awhile now but you pay a dear price all the way around in a society when this happens. Thus you have less and less fathers involved with their kids which does not bode well for boys in particular to fall in love with the game of 'real football' (American NFL). In turn what happens now the mothers become more in charge of their kids activities and with all the bad PR about how dangerous 'real football' can be the mothers will choose 'fake football'(soccer)more often than not for Johnny because she does not want him to get hurt. The de-masculinization of the American male in our culture both purposeful(by Left Progressivism IMHO) and some unintentional has taken it's toll.

We have created at breakneck speed an immensely soft underbelly of youth in this country in just the last 25yrs and it is very scary for our future as a country. Kids who don't want to work and feel entitled, kids who think real life is lived on their phones thus who really don't know how to relate outside the family let alone inside their own, in turn who have become overly narcissistic than normal and thus more sociopathic when push comes to shove in a social moral situation.

Yes, there is blame to spread around all facets of our society as the moral fabric is being torn to shreds for sure. But IMHO the biggest blame lies within man himself who chooses 'self' as opposed to God and why all the social mayhem continually rises each and every day. And let's not forget about the political/$$ ramifications of all this 'pussifying of our country' in our American culture which brings out the lawyers.

The Progressive Left and their lawyers don't like the NFL(for many many political, social and economical reasons because the NFL represents too much AMERICA and in their socialist communistic minds you can't have that) so they send their ambulance chasing lawyers in for concussion payoffs and their community organizing lawyers to stir the bigoted pot for big lawsuit payouts while using NFL players as 'useful idiots' to accomplish this(See Kapernick).

Sorry for the soapbox 'zilla' nothing personal but I see the fallout of this everyday in my office.

With that said-I have DTV. All I want is to see Chiefs games.
DTV is about 2 seconds behind. Streaming will make is much longer. That sucks.

DTV charges for the games is insane. Since the switch to ATT-their billing is worse than Sprint.
