Might you consider trying Arby’s new Diablo Dare spicy sandwich

Looks yum! Comes with a free shake!

https://www.usatoday.com/story/money...ch/9133271002/

Arby’s is daring you to try what it is calling the spiciest sandwich on the market.

Starting Monday, the fast-food chain is bringing the heat with the new Diablo Dare Sandwich, which comes in two varieties – crispy chicken and smoked brisket.

The chain said the limited-time sandwiches come with five sources of heat: ghost pepper jack cheese, fiery hot seasoning, fire-roasted jalapenos and Diablo BBQ sauce, served on a red chipotle bun

Arby’s said the sandwich is “so spicy, we had to include a free vanilla shake to cool your mouth down between bites.”

The Diablo Dare will be available through Feb. 6 at participating locations nationwide and starts at $5.99, including the free snack-size shake.

“This is not a sandwich for the faint of heart,” Patrick Schwing, Arby’s chief marketing officer, said in a statement. “Everyone in (the quick-service restaurant industry) says they have a spicy option, but our research tells us that consumers are disappointed by fast food claims of spicy.”

Schwing says Arby’s took that “as a challenge by making sure all different types of spicy – the hot, the numbing, and the lingering are combined to make the Diablo Dare a true test of how much heat you can handle.”

Arby’s also will have a challenge on TikTok with #ArbysDiabloDare. Starting Jan. 18, the chain said fans can go to TikTok and “use a branded effect filter to show their followers how much of the Diablo Dare sandwich they can take before reaching for relief with the vanilla shake.”

The thing about ghost peppers that's maddening in some ways is that they're GOOD. The flavor is just outstanding. I don't care for Habaneros and rarely use them in anything because all I taste is that smoke flavor on the front end. But man ghost peppers bring a lot to the party. But because they're so damn hot, you can't use many of them.

Jalapenos are funny - I've had some that are bland as bell peppers and some that have had me run screaming for any milk I could find. And seemingly off the same plant.
Yeah, definitely agree with the ghost pepper flavor. I think that's why you see so many fast food type places offering ghost pepper this and that. They add a touch of the flavor, and just reduce the heat down to palpable for the masses.

My introduction to ghost pepper was taking a straight up bite out of the side of one holding the stem. Big mistake. I mean, I like to think I have a pretty high tolerance compared to most.. It was an experience. Heart rate pumping. You can feel the burn travel down your body. Absolutely nothing to top that heat once it plateaued. But at the same time, it was a helluva rush. The second time I tried it, I didn't take nearly as much, but it didn't feel like half the heat of the first time. Had several peppers since that were supposed to be hotter than ghost pepper, but still didn't compare to that initial bite. The randomness is part of the thrill I guess...

However, I'd put my money on Sri Lankan. That was one of my two options when I was on my freighter (Sri Lankan or Romanian). The Sri Lankan food was essentially fire-eating. It was ridiculously hot.

Occasionally the captain of the ship (Romanian) wouldn't be enthused about the Romanian menu and would ask about the Sri Lankan food. Sometimes the dining steward (Sri Lankan) would let him try it, and other times he'd just say no and warn him off because he knew the dish that night would be too hot.

Coincidentally, I was doing some moonlighting computer work earlier this evening for a friend of a family member. Retired fella from Beloit, KS which is very close to my old stomping grounds. We were talking about spicy food somehow, and he asked me if I liked really hot sauce. Said he had a sauce with his name on it. As part of my payment, I scored several bottles of sauce, and some hot nuts. Apparently he's pretty well know out at Spicin. LOL

Are all three of those from the same 'pain is good' outfit?

I've already vouched for PiG Habernero Garlic Salsa, very warm [but a slow burn, and not overwhelming until you've had a lot], very garlicky, very 'fresh' [ie, no syrups or fillers, basically just roasted tomato, and habernero with a little onion, other chiles, olive oil and citrus]

I've used that Pain 100% on sandwiches; Firehouse Subs has it.

The problem is that I just don't like habaneros. It's hot, but the flavor kinda sucks.

Pain is good makes some stuff I really like.

The Ghost Pepper and Trinidad Scorpion barbecue sauces are excellent. I love that scorpion on chicken and pork; has some pineapple flavor in there.
