You can campaign, resign your commission, threaten the Academy voters etc.....Just don't forget to vote.

This is not a public vote but it's not a secret ballot. Whether you choose to publically declare your candidate or not is up to you.

The veterans committe didn't start the qualifying on Jan. 1st 2006 but the middle of December 2005 because we thought it was a good idea. You had to have at least 500 posts since your join date to be elgible.
