It's because he isn't 6-0 220 pounds.

The NFL has adjusted it's thinking with drafting QBs based on their height/weight, but the RB position has yet to catch up.

No one will take a guy this size in the first three rounds unless he runs a 4.2 or something insane, or had crazy production at a major school.

He’s also a small school guy with only 1 big season.

Always kinda makes me wonder why we care so much about the 40, especially for running backs

How often are they really asked to go 40 yards? I think speed for a rb is pretty overrated u less they’re just speed freaks like Charles was.

Balance and vision are up there for me

Even if you put weight in the 40 it doesn't matter.

Bruce Feldman reported he clocked Thompson running in the low 4.4s before the 2018 season.

He has good speed and GREAT acceleration, more than enough to breakaway in the NFL just from watching his tape.

Wanted a Phillip Lindsay type player on our team to do more of Andy’s screens, jet sweeps and even play receiver.

Well this guy may not be quite as fast as Lindsay, but he’s a hell of a lot stronger and bigger. Lindsay seems fragile. Dude already had surgery before his rookie year was over.
