Not true. Veach stated that Dave Merritt had Thornhill rated as his top safety in the draft. One can deduct from that statement that he was probably the only one within the Chiefs organization having him ranked first.

It seems like Jonathan Abram was the consensus top safety in the draft.

Man, if he could be an Earl Thomas type player for the Chiefs, paired with HB....whew.

For god sakes could some team just go ahead and cut a #1 CB for us?

Man, I love this guy ...

I have to watch myself this time of the year because I have a terrible tendency to foresee a HOF jacket on every new player we bring in. But, I'm really liking all these rookies. Undoubtedly, this was a damn good draft for Veach (not including his influence on 2017) by a mile and a half and an extra 100 yards. Very exciting ...

Saunders, Thompson, Hardman, Fenton, and Thornhill all look like fast, smart, heady football players to me. I don't yet know about Allegretti ... and won't until I see him play against the big boys, but I am developing some really good feels.

Can't wait to see them work with the vets. This could be a fantastically fun off-season.

Don't restrict yourself. This was the best draft in years if you count Clark. At this time last year I thought our draft sucked and I still do.

Our first three picks all look like first round talents. Guys like Thompson seem to sneak into the third round in a lot of drafts.

Add in Frank Clark (who I think we overpaid for, but I digress) and we quite possibly just added 4-5 difference makers. Maybe more if others pan out.

I listened to Matt Miller’s draft rumors podcast a week before the draft and they said they had heard rumors of Thornhill being in play at pick 29. So he probably was the top safety on their board.

Abram is a box safety. Maybe the best one in the draft, sure, but still hard to compare those types to true free safeties.

Still not a fan of the Fenton pick. I still have no clue what the Chiefs see in that guy. But hey... we're all wrong plenty of times, and it's not like there's ever been a draft in the history of the NFL where a team batted 1.000

We still paid too much for Frank Clark. Seattle should have been willing to take a 1st rounder and then **** off.

But everything else... man, this draft felt great. Feels a bit like it did in 2015, which I absolutely loved at the time. And don't bring in hindsight, please. Peters, Morse, Nelson, Alexander, and RNR felt like pretty good picks at the time for where they were drafted. They certainly all played at least to their ability compared to the round they were drafted in. Just because we let them all walk doesn't mean they were shitty picks. With a franchise QB contract on the way, be prepared to see some of these draft classes with multiple good players disappear after 4-5 years.

So is Landon Collins and why we didn't go after him because he can't cover but the 'true free safeties' to your point, CAN! As you know the NFL is a passing game now and you gotta be able to cover. Thornhill CAN !!

I think sometimes we forget how little value our 1st round pick really had. If we were an 8-8 team picking 15th a 1st alone likely would have done it. This helps me sleep better at night anyway.

Who's Fenton? I'm assuming this is some 5th or 6th round guy that I could really give two shits about yes?

Also feels like this is the best undrafted class we’ve had in a long time. These aren’t Ben Neimann try hard white guy players. We got some great athletes from big schools who produced against big competition.

I’ve got higher hopes for Fields, honestly. If he’s solid, they can let Fuller walk this offseason.
