Roster Updates (Watts and LDT to IR, Zombo signed)
The Chiefs announced a couple of significant roster moves Tuesday afternoon, placing starting guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif as well as reserve safety Armani Watts on injured reserve while signing veteran free agent outside linebacker Frank Zombo to the 53-man roster. The team also announced the movement of undrafted rookie linebacker Rob McCray to a designation of Practice Squad/Injured.

The move of Duvernay-Tardif to injured reserve doesn't come as a big surprise after he suffered a fractured fibula in Sunday's 30-14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, but placing Watts on injured reserve was unexpected and another unneeded blow to a safety position already decimated by injury. Watts, who was a fourth-round pick of the Chiefs in the 2018 NFL Draft, left Sunday's win over the Jaguars with a groin injury. Both players will be eligible to return off of injured reserve in eight weeks, although the Chiefs are only allowed by league rules to bring two players per season off injured reserve, and one of them could be safety Daniel Sorensen, who has been out since the preseason following knee surgery.

Would rather have had Tyrone Holmes if they were going to bring back someone familiar with the scheme. However long it is though the one positive is Zombo on special teams. Kpass was getting lots of special teams snaps as the 4th OLB. So as long as Zombo is only getting 10 snaps or so and Kpass snaps increase on D and decrease on special teams it isn’t that big of deal. With one roster spot available watch for Murray and if he practices or not today and tomorrow. If not they will most likely elevate McQway and even wait until as late as Saturday to do so. He would at least take Lucas special teams snaps since Lucas would start for Murray and probably play the 3rd safety role assuming Shaw isn’t ready yet which if he is I would rather see him out there.
