Solid State Hardrives

Anybody have a good source for them? I am looking to buy probably 2 256gb drives, may try to run them on Raid if I can on this Asus G73-SW

Most every year I buy a new laptop but this one has been so good I think I am just going to dump 16gb of ram in it and a couple of SSD's instead.

To each their own on the stickers, but whenever I fix a friend's PC, I rip that stuff off. It's an eyesore.

No you don't. As far as the computer operation is concerned, the SSD functions in exactly the same way as the platter drive did, just faster. It's completely unnecessary to do a fresh install when replacing a platter drive with a SSD. Clone the old drive directly to the SSD and boot it up.

I tried 4 different programs and I never got one to work right but it could be me because I am a Raiderfan and we don't have much computer time in between pressing license plates.

I use a Mac for such tasks because it's so much easier. But any cloning app, like Norton Ghost, would work fine.

It should work but lots of people(including myself) can never seem to get it to work quite right.

Whether cloning works or not, while you'll have to spend time backing up files(which you should do anyways) and reinstalling programs with a fresh install, you get rid of bloatware and unused misc files, which is helpful when you're cutting your C-drive space by at least half.

I've used Ghost in this manner hundreds of times. How did it fail? What did it tell you? Was the SSD formatted correctly?

When you post factual information, that doesn't happen.
