This is so unreal. We were dead. No hope. A season over. Somehow, someway we find some team chemistry and squeak into the playoffs on the last day of the season.

Only to find us facing one of the best pitching staffs assembled in years with home field advantage. We somehow, someway find a way to beat the best pitcher in baseball on the road in an elimination game.

We have to go on the road and beat the team with the best home record in baseball. A team who mortgaged their future to make this run .We somehow, someway find a way to beat them on the road and make our 18th World series trip.

We take game 1, we give away game 2 and home field advantage. Albert goes off for probably the best performance in World Series history and we take game 3 easily. Games 4 & 5 our bats fall asleep, Phone gate happens and its not looking too good.

Game 6, one of the best baseball games of all time and it takes place in a season ending go home game. Cardinals are down 2 runs in their final chance on the season, twice. They are down to their final strike of the season, twice. They give up a 2 run homer in extra innings. In the bottom of the inning their final 3 batters are a combined 3-26 in the Playoffs and a pitcher because the bench is empty. Somehow, someway they get some runners on and the comeback player of the year drives in the tying run. Mr. Freese hits the walk off home run. We will see you tommorrow night.

Game 7, With our bulldog on the mound pitching on 3 days rest he is able to give us 6 good innings and get us to within 9 outs of our 11 World series title. Texas meltsdown, probably left over from last nights game and its over.

The underdog, come back team who had no business even being in the playoffs wins a World championship. They make movies about events like this in life. Events that you remember even if your not a fan of the sport or team for the rest of your life.

When it is your team.......Priceless

We weren't dogging it against inferior teams until after the AS break. Again - LaRussa squads are great underdogs and they generally start out hot. When they start to get labeled a favorite and you reach the 5th and 6th month of that constant glower from the dugout, suddenly the team starts to falter a little bit.

I've been far more concerned with how this team will finish than how it will start.

It's a very long season, lets not go sucking each others dicks just yet.

Generally when the Cardinals get a division lead, they keep it. That lead may not stay as large as it was, but they don't blow 1st place.

Except for 2 of the last 3 seasons, when they had the division lead and blew them both in August and September. The 2009 squad brought in some new life with the Holliday acquisition, so there was none of the 'doldrums' that submarined the 2008 and 2010 squads.

The 2007 team was dogshit so it never had a divison lead to worry about. The 2006 team tried desperately to blow it; only a double digit lead with 3 weeks left in the season prevented it. It would've been one of the 3 worst collapses in MLB history and they just barely avoided it.

And 2005 is just too long ago to care about at that point.

The recent history of LaRussa squads is that they come apart as the season progresses. They'd better make hey while the sun is shining because with Alberts contract negotiations coming up, I don't imagine they'll be making a mid-season 'Holliday' splash. Nor do I see them building up the 11 game lead they had over the Astros in 2006.

They'd better avoid the pitfalls of '08 and '10.

The longest one I saw was off Pujols bat, from my seat 8 rows behind home plate, Bush stadium, Cubs vs. Cardinals, bases loaded, Pujols at bat and they pitch to him. It hit the top of one of those barriers that rope off the handicap section about 5 yards from the street outside of Bush.

Here's where the ball landed on the fly. Pujols said after the game, "I got all of that one, thats probably as far as I can hit a baseball", People were milling around after the game taking pictures like I did and going geeezzz look how far home plate is....

No biggie. We got swept by the reds and went on a tear. Milwaukee has mortgaged their future this year to make a run. I like where we are at now and in the future compared to the brewers.

I'm so ****ing sick of trotting out this acient relievers and expecting them to roll back time. Let them score 4 damn runs and load the bases before bringing in someone whos under 35 years old. That ump blew a 3rd strike to get out of the inning that Motte threw with bases loaded.

Ryan Franklin is so bad that I was actually excited when that bloop fell in before the Morse HR.

I have him on my FBB team and was salivating about the possibility of Morse getting his hacks.

I was not disappointed.
