There are all sorts of stats about the forum buried in the Admin CP. I'd love to make those available to everyone, but I haven't really found an add-on that does it well. But, I'm a stats geek, so I might bump this thread from time to time with useless tidbits that I find interesting.

Another random stat that is kind of interesting. The average number of posts per thread has increased steadily through CP's history. We've gradually transitioned from lots of little threads to fewer threads that have more posts.

Remember when there was a running joke about Skip Towne starting 100 post threads? That's a laughable goal these days.

Yeah, definitely. To me, it just shows that the "norms" have slowly shifted over the years. Instead of a different thread for every Mahomes article and video that gets 10-15 posts we now have a megathread with thousands.

I still kind of hate it, but I've resigned myself to the fact that it's not gonna change.

Don't think you're understanding what that latest chart means. Here's one from earlier that shows posts trends from as far back as 2012.

A while back-someone posted graphs about optimism among chiefs fans.
It was at a very low point after the Indy playoff debacle.

I would like to know where we are now.

Resurrecting an old thread because I've been playing around with the backend database as a way to practice some SQL skills (and put ChatGPT's coding skills to the test). If anyone has any ideas for analysis stuff you think would be interesting, drop them in here.

No promises on when or if I'll get to anything that you suggest, but I appreciate the fodder for things to think about. Don't worry too much about whether you think a question is answerable - that's part of the fun.

Examples of things that come to mind as stuff I might look at:
-What percentage of OG posters are still active today?
-How have participation rates in individual subforums ebbed and flowed over the years?
-How does the political leanings of the President impact the political leanings of who is active in DC? (This one will be tricky, and I might need a partner who has been a long-term DC participant help me categorize people. I think it's an interesting question, though.)
-What percentage of total posts in each forum come from that forum's top posters (e.g., how many people make up >50% of posts in each forum)?
