LNBS: This feels like we’re coiling to strike.

Am I just a few too many drinks in tonight, or does it seem like Veach is getting ready to take a huge swing for a stud either in the draft or trading for an elite WR or edge guy?

AJ Brown said KC tried to trade for him last offseason, so it was clearly a Tyreek thing and Veach wants an elite WR. He also knows he has a hole at DT that would be playing next to Jones and George…adding a difference maker there like a Justin Simmons or Quinnen Williams would be incredible.

I may be crazy…but I think Veach is itching to add another blue chip guy to this team.

Like…a really big swing.

Guys I can see him targeting for a trade because they become FAs next year…or their QB has a payday coming up and they can be persuaded to move a valuable piece…or a scheme change…or I’m sure some of these I’m just dreaming.

Nick Bosa
Quinnen Williams
Tristan Wirfs
Brian Burns
Justin Jefferson
Brandon Aiyuk
Montez Sweat
Jeffrey Simmons

Or maybe Veach targets some guys he wants and is willing to swing for the fences for that the other team might be willing to extract value while it’s still there like Jaylen Waddle or a Devonte Smith.

Maybe it’s not a current NFL player he’s targeting. Maybe he’s planning on making a big splash on draft night with a big trade up and that’s why the pre combine QnA was built with purely softball questions and answers.

No way 10 draft picks make this roster. He’s stacked the roster with quality starters and depth across the board. Adding quality over quantity makes a ton of sense.

Even using this years 1 and 3 and next years first to move wayyy up I bet is absolutely in play.

What way to introduce a new weapon could be better than the world champs trading up to get you in the top 10-15 picks with the draft being in KC and being able to go right to the facility and meet Mahomes, Andy, Nagy, Spags and Veach right away? Incredible to think about.

Curious, where this narrative comes from?

And his salary isn't even that "huge."

Malcontent, WRONG. He said himself he did NOT think he would be traded from Houston. He did not ask to be traded and was fine playing there despite their record. He was fine playing in Arizona with an even worse record but now that they are rebuilding he doesnt want to waste the last few years of his career. It makes sense for him and Arizona to part ways.

Huge Salary, WRONG. He has two years left on his contract at 19 and 14 so 33. So 2 year average of 16.5, very reasonable for a top WR. He has said he's willing to work on that even for the right team. He wants to win!

Veach is building for EVERY year. He was after JuJu for two years, got him and a Lombardi then let him go. Now he will find another, probably several.

No one knows if we will get Hopkins but to just dismiss the possibility is not smart. Veach is SMART.

No salary equal to or over this:

Kelce's contract is a four-year, $57.25 million deal that includes $22.75 million in guarantees. His average annual salary is $14.313 million, and the contract contained no signing bonus

Assuming you mean Jawaan and amazing as that line would be, I agree that it just ties up to much Cap. Cant see Veach doing that but if he did, Id be pretty psyched!

There are so many things this team could do it wouldn’t surprise me.

They could trade for Hopkins. They could secure OBJ. Elijah Moore could be snagged for pennies on the dollar if he wants out from the Jets after they sign Cobb.

They could do that AND aggressively move up. For Quentin Johnson. Maybe they have word that Jalen Carter will fall to 12 or something crazy. Myles Murphy may fall to 18. Nolan Smith, Darnell Wright, even Bijan Robinson or Brian Branch.

They paid retail for a LT. Everything else they are getting for value.

They can still make a splash with a Jones extension and then get hyperaggressive in the draft. They could trade Willie Gay and Clyde Edwards-Helaire. They could trade Noah Gray. They could notch an additional second day pick and groom Luke Musgrave into the Kelce heir.

It can still get totally nuts.

Veach just has so many options. Post draft, there will be a pool of veterans begging to come to KC to basically save their careers like what used to happen for the Patriots. We won’t have holes. Whatever we don’t get in the draft will be filled with the Carlos Dunlap and Jerick McKinnon types. Reid & the staff will get the best out of all of them and we’ll win 14 games.

Ho hum. Yeah, I said it. This team ho hums itself to 14 wins. It’s not even hard anymore. This offseason isn’t moving the needle at all, if anything the Chiefs D has gotten drastically better and the offense will be fine because Superman wears #15, and we also have Lex Luthor as our HC. How does anyone really stand a chance?

I do think everybody may be sleeping on the fact that Mahomes is probably entering his prime this year. I know he’s regarded as the best, but I think we’re about to see exactly how much better he is than everybody else.

Veach is going to notch more weapons for him, now, during the draft, and like you said, we’ll after the draft. He’s going to add tackle depth. And he’s going to have the resources left over to add a promising pass rusher (or two) and stock the cabinet at DT.

Riddick and Mahomes both told us one way or another that a party was coming. I truly believe it is.

What if the Chiefs make zero major additions at this point and have even an average draft? They’re probably 12-5 with a Top 2 seed in the AFC. But with what Veach can do, I agree with a 14 win prediction.

And this is just all general talent level. But it’s not going to matter, because when January rolls around, I simply don’t think you can ever pick against Mahomes again so long as he’s reasonably healthy.

If Veach follows through, there is a legit chance at a threepeat. They just won the Super Bowl in a retooling year with a one legged Mahomes!

I’d love to see more Pacheco outside pitches and sweeps.
