As the Chiefs under Chan Gailey continue to make progress on offense, have you noticed the sheer amount of passes completed to the WRs? Not since Paige/Carson have the Chiefs had two outside threats that open up the entire field for the rest of the QB’s array of weapons. Mark Bradley is the X-factor that quietly changes everything in Bradley’s emergence is far more important than would seem at first glance. Dewayne Bowe is already the most promising young receiver in the NFL. Tony Gonzalez has not diminished one iota in his performance – and could continue at a high rate of performance for 2-4 more years. But Mark Bradley has already proved that he is a force to be reckoned with which opens up everything on the offense for young Tyler Thigpen. Thigpen has thrown 6 TDs, scored two more and not thrown an interception in games against the Jets, Buccaneers and Chargers. Not since the late 80s have the Chiefs had 2 WRs that demand the respect of opposing defenses the way that Bowe and Bradley have. Thigpen’s emergence could be a harbinger of the future – a bright, promising future barring injuries. As the youngest team in the NFL, its permissible to overlook the 1-8 start – these kids obviously have talent and are getting the attention of the rest of the league. I think Thigpen is the guy. If Croyle had Thiggy’s numbers, we’d all be doing the endzone dance. He has a young tandem of WRs who open up the entire field for an emerging offense that is on the verge of finding it’s NFL identity. |

Does look good at this point as a promising combination Thiggy, Bowe, Bradley, Gonzo....
throw in a Franklin slot, get LJ head on straight or out the door. Somehow we gotta get a OL to gel.... I agree I like the direction, play calling etc.

I would not object to having him back next year, provided that he's not handcuffed. Would like to see him improve on the adjustment department. Seems like we do well in the first half, but struggle in the 3rd quarter into the early 4th quarter.

Thigpen's emergence and the acquisition of Bradley has meant so much to this team.
Bradley has been flat amazing.

This is a good point. If Croyle had Thigpen's numbers I'd be ready to crown him. But since it's a guy who played at Coastal Carolina I still think in the back of my mind he could flame out. I want to believe, and I'm glad there are 7 more games for him to continue to prove it. That drive at the end yesterday is huge on the resume.

I think Thiggy will only improve when the Chiefs get the running game adjusted to the spread system Chan is running. Personally, I'd like to see some more of the sprint outs and bootlegs back in the playbook to give the spread a better chance. Thigpen is delivering the ball quickly and accurately - and at times looks like Brady back there.

I think Gailey is happy now and that Herm is not going anywhere. The fact that KC is on the cusp of turning things around with the youngest team in the NFL bodes well for Herm. If Herm's plan succeeds, he'll have a solid team that can compete for January games for the next 5-7 years. If the Chiefs have found their QB, the heavy lifting is done and its time to build a smack down defense.

Keep Gailey as the OC no reason to screw-up a good thing.
I wonder how Croyle would have performed in this spread offense out of the shot-gun. It was obvious Pig could not hold Croyle's jock in the offense scheme Croyle was asked to lead. I'm not prepared to annoint Pig better than Brokie until I have seen a fair comparison. |
