Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

I bought a used wood and blue 50 cal encore for $400 with a cheap scope on it 4 weeks ago. Didn't even need the damn thing, but as with everything, watch the market and be ready with cash in hand to pounce on what you want when you find it. Keep an eye out as now is the time guys see their credit card bill from Christmas and dump the guns they use the least.... muzzle loaders fall in this category a lot.

When buying used look for corrosion in the barrel, make sure the rear plug screws freely once broke loose, break it over and check for slack in the hinge pin, cock and fire to make sure some want to be gun smith hasn't dicked with the trigger. When looking down the barrel look closely at the area about 2-3" from the breach, that area is known to form a ring that a lot of guys don't do a good enough job cleaning.

They're very simple guns that last forever if you keep them clean. If you get one, pm me and I'll pass along a tip or two that is a great bang for the buck for accuracy.

If you want to go back in time, use old ass shit, and pretend you're raping and pillaging Indian tribes with Custer, do it on a regular permit you can buy over the counter. I have several of the old flints and cap & ball dead ends, but I sure as hell don't use them on special permit hunts.
My bad. Didnt know I was dealing with Marlin Perkins grandson.

Went to a Gun Show today and prices were pretty inflated. I did pick up 2 20 round AR-15 magazines for $13 a piece. These are Thermold Master Molder mags and seem decent. The aluminum ones were double the price, so I went with the molded ones.

A guy in the parking lot was trying to sell an M&P 15 with one mag for $2600 and a guy with a stand had a Colt on consignment that some fool wanted $3000 for.

No PMAGS and no Bulk ammo that wasn't outrageous. Also no reloading components.

Handgun magazines have always been a little more expensive. I picked up 2 15 rnd mags for my m&p this past summer and they were $25 each.

That xdm I bought has mags for $50 each, cheapest I've found.

Yeah that's why I didn't think anything about posting what I did. I've been content for sometime with the amount of handgun magazines mine came with for this fact.

went to Cabellas to pick up my SOG Aegis, and took a look at the guns. the amount of people was insane.

I noticed a USED XD9 going for $489. Pffff.

they did have plenty of ammo though; limit of 10 boxes. the price wasn't inflated at all. winchester white box/range ammo in 9mm was the usually $13.
