Is It Catapano Time in KC? (Article on Arrowheadpride.com on rookie pass rusher)

http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2013/1...in-kansas-city

Just saw this article on Arrowhead Pride about 7th Rd DE Mike Catapano. Thought it was a pretty good read and figured I'd share. The more I read about him the more I want to see what he can do. Especially now with Toribio being cut and Devito & Jackson banged up.

Hopefully Catapano has healed up from his ankle injury in week 8. I saw that he played in the Denver game but was limited to special teams so hopefully he is good to go this week. Looks as though we might really be able to use him given the current situation. I'd imagine we drafted him and are holding onto him for a reason so....lets see it

Bailey looked pretty good against the run in Denver but he isn't really a great pass rusher. Wouldn't mind seeing one more talented rusher in the mix on 3rd downs. While sacks aren't everything they certainly help! 1 sack in 3 weeks isn't cutting it. Reid talks about Catapano having a "natural pass rush ability" and a "knack for getting after the QB" so lets see it already. From what i saw in this video attached to the article of him playing in college on this NBC broadcast it looks like the same guy i have seen wearing #77 for the Chiefs. In his limited reps he looks legit. So what gives? If he really is a predator then I say open up the cage and let the Cat out! Lets see this rushing talent Reid and Dorsey keep bringing up...now does seem like a logical time to see what he can do.

Commings played in Denver so I wouldn't be surprised to see him make a meaningful play at some point.

Bench Lewis-put in the hard hitting rookie Commings-how much could it hurt really?

Use Davis as another weapon. Would like to see him get some Kickoffs-our special teams havn't done much lately after a hot preseason and pretty descent start.

Big Cat- needs to be in there-would love to see him knock the crap out of Rivers this weekend.

I'd like to see Davis in short yardage and maybe short yardage goaline. Hes 225-230 as opposed to 200 in Charles. Ok sure its Jamaal Charles and he plays bigger than he looks for sure.....but 230 is 230 and as long as Davis can hold onto the ball he may be the guy who can punch it through a tough d-line. Plus using more of him will help preserve Charles a bit. May suck for my fantasy team lol but may keep Charles healthier with less wear n tear for playoffs

Deep but no starter at FS

amazing that our defense can play so well with only 10 productive players on the field

We need more than Jamaal Charles for an offense so our D can rest and why we have not seen any sacks the last 3 weeks.

Jamaal has proven that he can break tackles, and not just through agility and speed. He's at this point a more powerful runner than Davis.

If you want to save Charles, start using Sherman as a pass blocker instead of Charles. As far as I am concerned, Charles is our biggest weapon and shouldn't be trying to take on a linebacker when he could be a potent threat even as a checkdown receiver. And since we have Alex Smith, I will say we ESPECIALLY need a checkdown threat. What I mean is, Charles is too big of a weapon to be part of the protection package as far as I am concerned. And he doesnt need the unnecessary wear and tear of getting blasted by linebackers when he doesn't have the ball.

It's true. I watched knile a lot in college and his size and strength is wasted on him. He's not really a breaking tackles kind of runner. He's great North-South and in space. He is kinda a one cut guy and isn't as physical as you would think.

Good point...Sherman Tank is certainly a great option for pass protecting. And Charles IS a durable back dont get me wrong. He really excellerates ro the hole and runs hard inside. But when I saw him get denied access to the endzone last week I found myself thinking "why not yry and hammer Davis in there? But Charles 200 lbs soaking wet he may be usually gets in there. Charles plays big. And is an awesome pass blocker too...but I agree on giving him less workload where you can. Hopefully we can get up on San Diego early amd run Davis at em late

Just read thursday practice update from Kansas City Star website...

Injury report

Right guard Jon Asamoah (shoulder) did not practice Thursday, just one day after he participated in a limited fashion.

Defensive end Mike DeVito (knee sprain), defensive end Tyson Jackson (abdomen) and right tackle Eric Fisher (shoulder) each sat out for the second straight day.

During the portion of practice open to media, Asamoah and DeVito went through warmups with helmets on. Fisher and Jackson observed from the sideline.

this could be a rough game :-/ ..lets hope Catapano is ready to roll. We may need him!
