Official 2012-2013 NBA Thread

Looks like James Harden has been To the Rockets for Jeremey Lamb, Kevin Martin and future picks. Plus... this is a general NBA thread.

I'm bored enough I may do it I have another 90 minutes to kill here at work.

LeBron has dominated in nearly all of the playoff games he's ever played, but these moments stand out I'd say:

48, 9, 7 on the road at DET in game 5 of '07 EC final to win in 2 OT, later pushing the Cavs into the NBA finals:
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/boxscore...gid=2007053108

Buzzer beater victory over Orlando in game 2 of '09 EC Finals (and 35, 4, 5, although Cavs went on to lose this series): http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/boxscore...gid=2009052205

40, 18, 9 in game 4 on the road in Indiana last year (down 2-1 in the series), essentially putting the team on his back in a virtual elimination game:http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/boxscore...gid=2012052011

45, 15, and 5 on 19 of 26 shooting on the road in Boston for game 6 of '12 EC finals (an elimination game, was perhaps as focused as I've ever seen him, reminded me of MJ that night): http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/boxscore...gid=2012060702

Beating Durant and the toughest home environment in the NBA in game 2 of the '12 NBA finals with a 32, 8, and 5 line (which paved the way for the Heat victory in the series): http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/boxscore...gid=2012061425

There's obviously a lot of other playoff games where he lead his teams to road victories with huge performances, but these seemed to be the most significant/memorable.

Durant has become a really good defender in crunch time especially. He's not on LeBron's level, but he's pretty damn good. Durant and Westbrook get better every year which is why I have confidence they will break through eventually.

Yes, there is a gap between LeBron and Durant, but there is a gap between Durant, and the rest of the league. They'll both go down as all time greats.

So will Kobe and MJ. MJ to me is the best player ever, but LeBron can catch him for sure. However, it's like a whose better Supernan or Batman discussion. Who really gives a ****? Enjoy them all.

He had an insane game against the Spurs in the Finals, didn't he?

that's what I want you guys to give me out of Kobe...

I think you'd have a hard time finding it. I don't think anyone sans MJ can match what LeBron did in that 2 OT game against Detroit.

He also almost averaged a triple double in the NBA finals. I would call that pretty ****ing clutch.

I agree with all of that. Durant is absolutely getting better on D, and he's difficult to deal with because of his length. But he can't cover the quicker point guards or the bigger post guys. LeBron can genuinely stop any other offensive player in the league.

Not arguing that. KD's whole game improves each year is all I'm saying. OKC's best 3 players are gym rats and it shows.

LeBron, by the way, is third all time in WS/48 (win shares per 48 minutes) in the playoffs behind only Michael Jordan and George Mikan:
http://www.basketball-reference.com/..._career_p.html

So far in his career, he's one of the greatest postseason performers the sport has ever seen.

Also for reference, here's total playoff win shares (Jordan leads, but LeBron already edging into the top 10):

So because LeBron wants to defer that's a plus?
So because Kobe wants to take every single shot that's a plus?

My point was in relation to the LeBron being a better passer discussion; there was no judgment of whether that's better or worse than Kobe's desire to take over the game by scoring.

I get that list but I have a real hard time with anything that lists Wilt Chamberlain that far ahead of Bill Russell when it comes to playoff success.
