I cannot stress enough that you guys listen to the stuff he says about the coaching hires. Yeah, it's about Flores, and Kingsbury, and Gase but he talks about it in the context of Beinemy, Nagy, Reid, and Mahomes. Chris Simms is one of the best in the business.

These guys just nail it every time.
It's amazing how shitty of a game plan Andy Reid and Bob Sutton had.

Its refreshing to listen to media types who don't tiptoe around calling a spade a spade for fear that that spade might not like them.

Yeah, I listed to that a few days ago.

It was obvious that the gameplan was ****ing hogwash, but Simms' film notes pointed out that it was WAY worse than I anticipated.

Woof.

Simms also points out that you have to ****ing go after Belicheat, because he's going to go after you. You just can't hope to play mistake free football and hope they make a mistake. They won't. And that literally ****ing nobody does this. It's mind boggling.

The fact that Andy ****ed up the gameplan so marvelously is an intergallactically stupid **** up.

I was firmly in the "Whatever you do, don't fire Reid" camp, but if it comes down to it, shit like this makes it easier to swallow. This should have been a goddamned gimme game. NE is so ****ing exploitable with the weapons we have, as evidenced that Mahomes being a mind-numbingly stupid alignment error way from doing it with no help from the coaches.

God **** that shit chaps my ass.

Ehhhhh some.

Simms is really cautious in criticizing NE. Rightfully so, Belicheat is rarely wrong, but he does.

The big thing is they're not out there spewing hot takes. They are aware of their weakness in analysis and don't try to downplay it - the big thing is they actually DO the analysis. They watch the games and tell the audience what they see right or wrong. They actually give a shit what they say on record.

Mahomes screwed the pooch in first half too though. Missed an easy TD pass and then took a bad sack right after that to cost them a field goal attempt. The OL played like shit and Reid's playcalling sucked as well. Everyone brought their F game in that first half on both sides of the ball for the Chiefs.

The big problem for the first half was the protection calls were awful. I don't know if that is Mahomes or Reid. I'm guessing since it was demonstrably better in the second half it was Reid.

Mahomes wasn't perfect, but **** man, nobody is.

Unless he ****ed up the protection calls, his mistakes are miniscule compared to the goliath **** up that was the protections.

With Patrick's lack of experience, it would not be a surprise if the protection calls were his mistake. What I disliked about Andy's playcalling was the slow-developing plays downfield instead of quicker routes/screens. He also didn't use bootleg at all for Mahomes in the first half.

There were more free rushers in that half than the rest of the year combined. I was at the game and the plays I had a good view of, he looked legitimately surprised there was dudes there. He didn't blow that many reads all year, and dudes threw some pretty complicated shit at him.

Pure speculation, but my position is Reid didn't prepare for those coverages. If he had Mahomes would have read them properly. Like he did in the second half.

From the outside it looks like a gameplanning error not an execution error.

I've been known to be a flaming moron though

Was it the protection calls or was it the offensive line just flat-out being dominated?

The plays I'm thinking of are protections. They sent a bunch of blitzes that we failed to pick up or hot route out of.

I was at the game and didn't bother to rewatch it, but in the first half, it looked to me like it was protections.

Moreover, they weren't physically dominated (at least to the point at which it trashed the play) in the second half. That leads me to believe adjustments to the protections were installed at half.

I'm not sure, but they sent some safety blitzes too. Not sure on all that. Bottom line though, from the stands it looked like gameplanning not execution that shit the bed.
