In 5 years, the Belichick tree will be a dried out shrub and if this guy were still languishing as a QB coach somewhere, he'd get little more than cursory interviews while the next big thing moves up in the world.

Give me a list of guys that flamed out as OCs with 2 different teams, spent a couple years demoted and then were promoted back to be successful OCs elsewhere.

He'd be a complete ****wit to turn down million dollar raise on the off chance that he can get another OC interview in 3 years.
Jimmy Raye, Chris Palmer, Kevin Gilbride.

the question now becomes which turd is shinier: Matt Moore or Chad Henne

because we are getting one of them to come in and "compete" (I use this term loosely) with Mark Castle

With a track record like his, he can afford to be choosy. We should all consider ourselves fortunate that he chose the Chiefs, who only coincidentally have the one GM in football that sees "coached Matt Cassel to mediocrity under Bill Belichick" as the most important line on your resume.
Can we keep this reasonable without twisting words?

I am not for this hire but it's already happened and no matter how much we whine about it, he will still be our OC coach for 2012.
Time to start looking POSITIVE, something people have hard times doing.
He turned Reggie Bush into an actual RB. Turned Matt Moore in a pretty good QB. Lead Peyton Hillis to a outstanding year. Was at New England when Matt Casshole had his outstanding year.

So... As much as we hate this hire. It might just work out.

I don't see why, just because of Daboll? He was there one year. I don't know if either of those is "his guy" that he'd go to bat for.

This is this dumbshit's way of saying he supports the Daboll hire.

This dumbshit is too dickless to take a position that might be unpopular so he prefers to hedge his statement.

Daboll has nothing to lose here. He's an cronyism hire as it is, so it's not as though his success or failure will make a difference for later cronyism hires.

He took the job because it offered him more money than he'd make in 10 years as a QB coach. If he can limp along for even 2 years, he'd have made as much money in 2 years doing that as he would 10 years as ass't. And ultimately, if he sucks at it, he'll always have folks that are willing to say "Well hey! Look at the shitty QB he had in KC. People kept hiring him as an OC, so he must be decent..." Having no success at his first 2 stops didn't keep him from getting a 3rd, and having no success at his first 3 stops didn't keep Jimmy Raye from getting a 4th.

He'd have been an idiot to turn this job down.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Daboll push for Karl Dorrell to be approached for some kind of passing game/WR coach role

The San Francisco 49ers?

Basically the same team talent wise went from a mediocre non playoff team to a fumble or two away from playing in the Super Bowl.

The only signficant change between last year and this year was coaching.

This isn't the NBA... coaching DOES matter in the NFL.

Stop trying to defend the Daboll hire in your own dickless way.

why WOULDNT he is the question? He just made Matt Moore into a puppet with respectable stats and Chad Henne is exactly like Cassel.

Miami just brought in a whole new system in, so they are upgrading the QB either in FA (Flynn) or through the draft. One of those guys is out there door if not both.

And I wouldnt be surprised if either of them is what the Chiefs/Pioli consider competition for Cassel even though they are backup material at best.

Both know Daboll's system, so there's that too.

Pioli got another stooge - period. All this crap from folks that are trying to say "Well you can't prove that he sucks" is just backwards logic. I shouldn't have to prove that the hire sucks, you should have to prove that it's good. This is an NFL coordinator's job, for ****'s sake. This isn't some High School assistant coach's gig - but one of 32 guys that coordinate offenses at this level. Presumably one of the 32 best in the entire ****ing world at running an offense.

What we've seen is that the results this guy has provided are, at best, substandard. More accurately - they're horrid. And sure, he's had some bad situations, but you're still just providing me with more excuses there. It's just more "Matt Cassel needs more time" bullshit. I don't need to see a bunch of reasons why he might not be awful; I need to see some explanations as to why he might be good. So far the best I have is "well he scored some points with a mediocre QB and made Reggie Bush look good". Folks - Reggie Bush is insanely talented, he just couldn't stay on the field. Figuring out a way to make someone with Bush's speed and athleticism doesn't impress me.

No, this hire isn't a good one. In fact, it's a bad one because it was made for the wrong reasons. Scott Pioli didn't look for someone that could come in here and score the most points given the freedom to choose his own QB and run his own system. No, Scott Pioli hired what he perceives to be the best available option to make Matt Cassel look better.

And frankly, I don't give a large rat's ass who Scott Pioli perceives to be the best available coach for any situation. All he seems capable of doing is hiring guys that Bill Belichick hired first and hoping they suck slightly less than the last BB castoff.

I've simply lost interest in this team. The way it's being run, the reasons decisions are made - all of it. There just isn't a single thing about this franchise that makes it fun to root for. They're a black-hat franchise that also happens to get mediocre results. They're not even loveable losers - it's just a bunch of transparent egomaniacs that are more interested in being right than being successful.

Like I said - it's just incredibly disappointing.
I couldn't have ranted it better.

The point is that if he has any aspirations to someday being a HC, then taking this job could very well be the nail in the coffin of those aspirtions.
