Oh yeah, there are a ton of romance books on there. I think it is mostly because people are self publishing and just about anyone can come up with a smut book. As far as the best things to read...well I'm still going thru the classics, but if you're interested you can grab Frankenstein, Dracula and War of the Worlds which are all awesome.

Google Books has a ton of classics in the public domain. More than you could ever read in the average lifetime.

I got a Kindle Fire HD - top of the line with built in LTE and all the bells and whistles for Christmas. It's a great device and beautiful screen- I would have no complaints and love it if I had any need or desire for a tablet, but I just don't and it is a wasted device for my needs. I've tried selling the thing on Craigslist and can't get any legit buyers -even at a substantially reduced price that is a steal for someone. Only seem to get spam replies and scam offers from people with some bs story about how they need it shipped out of the country and will pay with a cashiers check.
What gives!?

To be honest, I just really don't care for the writing style from the older books. I've tried Jules Verne books as well as tale of two cities and Count of Monte Cristo. While good books, the style was just kind of annoying to read for me. don't even get me started on Tolken.

Just curious, how do I get the google books for a kindle reader? I have tried Calibre and it messes up the formatting when going from epub to amz.

in theory, if they're up in plain text you might be able to open them in Scrivener and then compile them in the amazon format. Never tried it though.

Got the reader that sticks you with the special ads. seems like every sleep screen is a damn love story novel so it looks like I am reading books I would never read.

I have a nook myself, and Calibre has always worked excellently with it.

So far the only epubs I tried were from epubbud so it might have something to do with their formatting too. I'll try a few from google and see how they turn out.
