-- Let's talk about counting calories & routine

Hi Guys,

I'm up to a 36 waist - thanks to Del Taco and a few others. As well as eating pretty poorly over the last year, or so.

I'm on a strict regimen now and doing a three week diet and then merging it into a new way of life. I have a history of eating well (normally) - but, again; have been quite clumsy over the past year or so.

My plan is to limit myself to 1100 calories a day the first week, then up to 1200 the second week, and then stay on or around 1500 calories as the norm, with one cheat day per week.

After the third week - I'll get back into some sort of exercise, which too will be part of the new 'way of life'

In this thread I'd like to discuss food ideas for assisting myself (& others) with weight loss.

Since Monday I've not gone above 1100 calories/daily - I have eaten oatmeal, oranges, bananas, hard-boiled eggs and in closing, in the evening - I'll eat one of the Chick Fil A Spicy, grilled chicken wraps w/o dressing (350 cals)

I'm open to ideas - but the goal is - finding items that are a little less common and more creative.

Please assist at your leisure - anyone else need assistance or interested in jumping aboard, I welcome it.

Thanks again

Did you go with the sedentary, couch potato option? BMR for me is usually 300-400 less than TDEE when doing that and is a fairly good target to shoot for when looking at the deficit.

Wife and I picked up working out again, after about a year of just not giving a shit. We're about a month and a half in, working out 5 days a week, an hour on average.

Two leg days, one jogging day, one chest/Tri's day and one bicep/shoulder day.

So I'll be joining you guys in this thread now, heh.

Also, i bought her a FitBit Charge 2 for mother's day. After seeing the App and all the data it tracks, i went out and got one for myself so im slowly becoming a calorie counter....

On a side note, according to my fitbit, my cardio conditioing (Vo2 Max Score) is waaay higher than i though it'd be, ranking me as "Excellent" for my age group. Which i find hard to believe. What kind of scores are you guys getting?

Spin the wheel and almost any "diet" will work.

Vegetarian
Vegan
Mediterranean
Paleo
Keto

What do all these have in common? If you are doing them right you are eating less processed foods and sugar. The S.A.D. (Standard American Diet) has lots of empty calories and little nutrition. People are always hungry because they get so few nutrients the body needs.

Whatever system you choose if you cut the sugar you will lose weight. I believe you can hack that further by doing the following:

Cut Wheat (it's in almost everything in your supermarket)
Fake Sugars
Vegetable Oils (See Cate Shanahan on Youtube)

I end up eating lots of grass-fed beef, organic chicken thighs, salad, broccoli, caulifower, avacados, grass-fed butter, olive oil, and coconut oil. The weight drops easily and you always feel full.

the best diet is the one I’m on. It’s the only one proven to work in the long term.

Watch your calorie intake. Eat good nutritional food. Get off your ass and move your body.

If you account for the calories, you can lose weight eating whatever you want. Google the "Twinkie Diet". I tend to gravitate towards more "healthful" foods because the calories are lower but if I want ice cream or potato chips, I can fit them into my calorie target and still lose weight just fine. You don't have to be miserable or eat a bunch of bullshit "health foods" to lose weight.

I don't know how you people get fat. When I graduated college I weighed 193, and man was that a pain in the ass. I had to eat ALL the time. Lift ALL the time. 4,000 calories a day. I weigh 170 now a decade later. I eat like shit. In fact, I started eating "bettter", still not good and I immediately dropped 7 pounds. If I was 260 I'd be dead by a heart attack by now. Luckily I'm a shrimp and my triglycerides are still two fitty.
