I’ve been busy as ****. In fact I’m still on the sprayer.

Here’s my take:

Mahomes is the best I’ve ever seen. Full stop. I’ve had this position for awhile.

Not only is he the best I’ve ever seen, but he obviously gives a shit about winning. To take that long of contract in the environment we’re in in 2020 means that he doesn’t want a distraction. Then the structure to let us keep guys. I don’t even....

There is some risk for the chiefs that the raise in cap stagnates but that is a far far less risk than signing the 3 or 4 year whatever deal other guys are doing with the cap going up.

I still hope Clark found a way to funnel him some cheating money. **** it. It’s Mahomes. Give him as much as you can.

I just can’t believe a star football player in 2020 signs a 10 year deal.

He gave the Chiefs a very team friendly deal. We have the best
QB and the best contract in sports. He wants to win and his contract will help keep the team talented on both sides of the ball. He will get over 300 mil of this deal for sure. He will get almost 200 mil before he's 28 and his cap number is still very good.

He’s not taking into account anything but the average salary.

Which is a really dumb exercise.

His cap hit isn’t his average salary.

It will be year 8 of his deal before he’s on track to make the average salary or more. Which means, in all likelihood, he NEVER has a cap hit that hits his average salary number, as the deal probably is reworked before year 8. .

Exactly. It's the most base and lazy of analyses.

The contract is structured the way it is for a reason.

I think KC got an awesome deal. Their front office & fanbase should feel great about it. I guess Patrick was pretty dang serious when he said he would not screw the team. It should be very doable for them to build a solid roster around him for the next 6 years at least.

Meanwhile, a bunch of inferior QBs will be demanding more money than what Mahomes is gonna be paid over the next 6 years. Those franchises will end up struggling to build their roster as they overpay for QBs that simply are not worth it. Dak Prescott turned down a contract paying him significantly more than the $30.6M salary that Mahomes just agreed to for the next 6 years. I think Dallas should tell him to jump off a cliff.
