Fox News Poll: 54% of Republicans, 70% of all voters support raising taxes on $10m+

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/fox...estic-spending

Overall voters:

Republicans in particular:

Quote:
Republicans are less sure where the sweet spot is for tax hikes. A majority of 59 percent opposes tax hikes on incomes over $250,000, while a 54 percent majority favors increases on incomes over $10 million. For incomes over $1 million, GOP views split: 47 favor vs. 43 oppose.
Sounds like AOC's ideas are more popular in your party than any of you care to admit!

Right, it's going to really crush the economy because a rich person has to get rid of 1 of 10 yachts. It's not crushing anything. More importantly, the pareto principle is a ridiculous argument. Of course the rich are going to disproportionately pay for a substantial amount of our taxes. What person in their right mind actually thinks they should pay equal taxes to a poor person?

Really? Remember the massive failure of that boat tax. People who built boats, distributed and sold boats lost their jobs and it hurt the entire industry. This has happened before when there were taxes passed on luxury items that the wealthy purchase. You need to re-think it and use some facts.

I want executive compensation fixed because executives rewarded for bad performance destroy the economy (and everyone, including the rich, benefits when the economy blossoms). And just because the super rich don't use welfare, doesn't mean they aren't substantial consumers of public resources. In fact, much of their wealth is highly dependent on it. Everything from the land they use to the maintained and plowed public roads that get their workers to travel to work. The average stadium deal is a blatant example of how much billionaires profit off of cheating the average taxpayer through crooked public deals. And last time I checked you want to take my tax money to build an expensive wall and fund a massively expensive defense program.

That's nuts to compare an average Joe taking a mortgage deduction (which was created to incentivize homebuying behavior) to a billionaire who purposely evades taxes by moving a high % of wealth offshore, much of that either borderline or completely illegal but overlooked. I wonder how they'd feel if we negotiated fair public deals where a person/corporation receives a substantially discounted public deal or access to significant public resources brokered through a crooked politician. It's estimated that we have trillions more to go... that's offshore alone.

I thought the "right wing" was about paying down the debt, eliminating crony capitalism and draining the swamp, and an America-first job strategy. But god forbid any of this come at the expense of taking away HANDOUTS to the super rich who've gamed the system for decades at the taxpayer expense.

Spin this shit anyway you want. Maybe you will find someone dumb enough to buy your bullshit.

It's about this or it's about that is fine for some low information shill you are pitching. Dont give me that line of crap.

You want to confiscate money from those who have it whilst ensuring none of yours is confiscated. And you want the government to do it. And you, in all your wisdom, know what level of income will be declared enough, and what is too much. Your track record here of demonization of the successful is well known so please let's not try to bring in your deep seated desire to reduce the debt.

Reduction of debt has zero to do with your schemes to take from others.

You want executive compensation fixed....like who the **** are you to tell the BoD of any corporation how they compensate their employees? God boy you have a self esteem problem....to ****ing much!!

So you want to confiscate from many, declare power over independent businesses compensation programs....yet you are not for more government. You may be the most intellectually dishonest poster on CP.

Which democrat is proposing to take 99% of the wealth from every billionaire and do nothing else?

LOL. Same canned talking points by you.

I am not pushing for tax hikes. I'm saying do it without the tax havens and borderline or often illegal offshoring. Do it without corporate welfare which in many cases destroys more value than it creates. The fact that you are complete denial that corporate welfare exists let alone being a pervasive problem shows how stuck in your bubble you are.

And good grief... Taxing a 10m+ income petson on stuff they earned but chose to evade is not going to disincentive entrepreneurs. If anything it helps create a better startup environment.

And I'm not envious of anything. How exactly is the rich paying more taxes going to impact me? Am I going to get a raise? It's mind numbing that this is a simple part of a solution, and it's useless idiotic comments like yours that stops it from happening (and yes, it's useless idiots who want to tax the rich and massively increase govt that are part of the problem too).

I remember a candidate for Congress in the 1990s (can't remember who) back in the 90s proposed an interesting solution...I'm paraphrasing:

Quote:
Mostly eliminate the income tax; impose a national sales tax. Exempt food, basic utilities, on the first $500 of clothing purchases for individuals annually. Allow state and local governments to keep current taxes to maintain their revenues. Adjust "sin" taxes to maintain current revenues. Everything else taxed at the same rates.

Debate over the federal rate would start with maintaining current revenue streams. Incentive to REDUCE SPENDING: any reduction in spending would match
ed by increases in the marginal tax rate on the top 3-5% of wage earners.
Thought it was an interesting proposal...

Wealth distribution is a created issue, a non-story. The left has harped on this for years. In 2013 this was explained in simple details and facts....here is the link: https://economics21.org/html/income-...blown-720.html

No. Like in the article I posted several times that all you morons never read, a high marginal tax rate isn't about raising tax revenue, but it's a corrective measure to reduce wealth inequality.

If we do nothing, the rich just get richer, and everyone else stays where they are.

It's an opinion piece from a right wing "think tank".

What I read of it was a load of crap.

“Wealth inequality “. Communist talk.
Who told you everyone should be equal? Not how life works. There will always be some who have more than others including the system you envision.
Not happening.
