Miami's Martin leaves team after 'emotional breakdown'

Jonathan Martin leaves Dolphins after 'breakdown'

By Dan Hanzus

An unusual situation is unfolding in Miami, where Dolphins right tackle Jonathan Martin has left the team after suffering an "emotional breakdown" this week.

NFL Media's Jeff Darlington reported Wednesday that Martin is currently seeking help with his family after an incident at the team's cafeteria, according to team sources.

Martin is listed on the team's injury report with an illness, and is doubtful to play Thursday against the Cincinnati Bengals. Fox NFL insider Jay Glazer reported that Martin was the victim of a prank at the cafeteria, becoming enraged enough to "smash his food tray on the ground."

The second-year pro has not been with the team since that time. Darlington reports that Martin immediately sought treatment at a local hospital. He has since left the hospital and is now spending time with his family, according to team sources.

Martin opened the season as the Dolphins' replacement for Jake Long at left tackle. He was moved to right tackle when the team acquired Bryant McKinnie via trade last week. Tyson Clabo is expected to start in Martin's place on Thursday.

I have no other reason to believe this, other than my inherent tendency to make shit up with no substantial evidence.

Wait, wait, wait.... just wait.... He's a Gay Muslim? Where do you even find one of those?

Good to know. I potty trained my kids so I've probably stunted their creativity a bit.

Okay, but I'm having some trouble. The list of equally likely scenarios with the given information includes:
1. He likes taking baths in cake frosting because it feels good on his skin.
2. He is obsessed with throwing feces at unsuspecting strangers.
3. He only masturbates while wearing a koala suit.

My evidence, so far, is he was still apparently being harassed by teammates, including one of his offensive line mates during his 2nd year as a pro and because a cursory search didn't turn up any evidence of a significant lack of frosting baths, throwing feces, or masturbating in a koala suit.

Please help me guide my search.

Yeah, the rainbow abaya's are a clue, but the signs are a dead giveaway.

You're going to have to make your own decisions. Sorry. (But no, I don't think those are equally likely scenarios and I hope that when you finish medical school you're more capable of drawing reasonable conclusions on limited information).

Maybe we can cut to the chase here and move past the passive aggressiveness. Are you offended in some way because I raised the possibility that Martin might be gay? You won't be the first clown to misconstrue it as some kind of accusation instead of a simple question. Can I take it for granted that you've already read my previous posts on the subject or do we need to do this dance all over again?

Islamic terrorists (there I said it!) might agree...

I got to say, some of them like him...when you are allowed to walk.

Although, 'gay' is not a part of their lexicon.

One thing I have been wondering about is part of the voice mail message where Incognito says, “[I'm going to] slap your real mother across the face [laughter].” Could be that Incognito got close enough to Martin to find out some personal secrets only to embarrass him and throw it out in the open.

I get the sense that the Dolphins were trying to get out of this by releasing their original statement:

Quote:
“Our primary concern for Jonathan is his overall health and well-being.”

"We will continue to make Jonathan's health and well-being a focus as we do with all of our players."
Based upon the assumption Martin had a nervous breakdown, playing down all of this.

Did the Dolphins really think they could sweep this under the rug?

Moreover, what does this mean?

Quote:
Incognito has had to be reprimanded in the past for his actions toward team employees, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. It is not uncommon for him to intentionally walk into people and make others feel uncomfortable, and to make threatening remarks to Martin, sources said.
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/writer/...tin-harassment

This should cost the Dolphins' coaches and front office their jobs the way they have handled the Martin situation.

Many believed Jeff Ireland should have been fired when he asked Dez Bryant was his mother a prostitute and his father a pimp. What a POS organization.

All those times that opposing players got fined for hitting Richie Incognito, it makes a lot more sense now. He provokes other players, any every once in a while he'd get a response.

Although it's typically only used by the NCAA, I would say this sounds like a textbook example of a Lack of Institutional Control by the Dolphins organization if they let this guy run wild like this.
