Kaepernick pulls a Steve Bono

How ya like him now, SF? By "doin this", I'm not sure if he means rocking another teams' gear or grinding for his teammates.

It's possible. I think he's too young for this, though, but you never know...

C'mon Dane, the NFL is a different deal. There's 32 distinct franchises, all in competition with one another. And it's bad karma to see your leader wearing gear from another franchise. He can wear all the NBA or MLB stuff he wants. He should stay away from wearing gear from an NFL team that doesn't sign his paycheck. It's just bad form.

And doesn't that just suck? I mean, really. He's a 23 year old kid that just happens to be the QB of the 49ers. But the bottom line is that he's a 23 year old kid just having fun with his life.

Yes...that's because teams want to WIN FOOTBALL GAMES. Kaepernick takes the field wearing a Dolphins helmet? Problem. He hits the beach wearing a Dolphins ball cap? Not a problem.

Are the 49ers doing him a favor by signing his paycheck?

I would need to see another picture to know how to feel about this. If he is wearing that Dolphins hat to match with some white trunks then that's a classy move that I think the 49ers fans could appreciate.

Also, he's free to wear anything he wants after he's out of the league. Just don't do something disrespectful to your fan base if you can avoid it. Why poke the bear with a stick? If Alex Smith was photographed in a Peyton Manning Donk Jersey, what do you think this board would do?

Yes, I do think it's sad, actually. There's a culture of invasiveness in this country that is completely unheathly, IMO.

If he was wearing a Seahawks, Rams or Cardinals hat, I'd agree with the disrespect.

But Miami? Miami?

They get paid well for their sacrifice. No one should be attacking him with their pitchforks over this, but others are right in saying that it's a poor decision to wear other team's apparel and even more uncool to flip the bird to the fans when called out for it.

That depends...did Alex Smith just take us to the Superbowl in his second season while making $600k?

The reality is that team loyalty matters a lot more to the fans than it does to the players. Kaepernick probably through the hat on without even thinking about it.

Ultra-competitive environments = hatred for the competition in my eyes. At least this was my perspective through high school and college. I cannot imagine wearing any other team's gear in these capacities, though I was never a professional athlete and recognize the jump from college to the pros is gigantic.

Raiders would be the worst possible one. Hey, I see both sides of this, but I still think there's enough fans that this bothers that a QB, a guy who is your leader, doesn't need to stir up any shit on the side like this. I wonder if SF plays Miami this year? What if they do, and Kap throws three picks and loses? Man, talk about it hitting the fan....

Well, respectfully I disagree, George.

The 49ers are not rivals to the Dolphins. They're not even in the same division, let alone, conference.

Wearing a hat doesn't equate to "Traitor", IMO.
