We need to invent a new sport.

Okay, football rules. It's the king of sports and always will be.

But let's take a hard look at the other "major" sports. Baseball is on its back with all six legs kicking, and fifty years from now it'll be in the same league as curling. No one cares about baseball any more. Basketball? Who cares about two guys playing one-on-one while everyone else stands around? Who cares about a game where biology has rendered the goal trivial? Basketball is still alive and well, but it's a sideshow. Hockey? Don't even go there. 99 percent of the population couldn't name five hockey teams even before they shut down the league.

So where does that leave us? We need a new sport to fill the void between January (December for Chiefs fans) and August. The field is wide open right now, and the right idea will make us billions.

Where do we start? Let's make this thread a first step. Think about every game or sport that you play or watch, even the boring ones like...like everything except football. What are the elements of those sports that interest you? Be as specific as possible, and let's move to the base elements.

For example, I'll start.

Some reasons I like football: Violent collisions. The potential for a long game-breaking play. The scoring is about right - not too many scores, not too few. Every team has a chance to win it all each year. It's complex, but at the same time simple.

Some reasons I like dodgeball: it's fast-moving and simple. There's a chance that someone will get hit in the face. You have two distinct types of players: throwers and catchers.

Some reasons why I like watching steeplechase races: it brings back memories of playing on the jungle gym in childhood.

Sports with attractive women are interesting, too, but they have to be real sports and not hokey.

I would love an American Rugby system that started in March and ended in July.

I think naked female wrestling might be interesting. Or you could start them out in skimpy clothing and they could get points for ripping portions of their opponets clothing off.

Lets change golf. Lets race to the 18th hole. Instead of quiet lets put crowds out there to try and break peoples concentration. No carts, no caddies and only 4 clubs. A Wood, A Iron, A wedge, and a putter. Lowest score + fastest time = winner. That way you wll have to be in shape.

Professional Kick-ball?

Combine the elements of soccer and baseball. You've already got the baseball fields established all over the globe. Bring in the fences a little bit. Add certain elements to the game that include spot tackling and vivacious sideline cheerleaders, and walllah! we've turned our elementary schoolyard game into a professional sport.

Rugby has always been a bit slow for me. I was somewhere once where a cricket league was playing, and it was actually pretty entertaining to watch. The fatal flaw of cricket is the length of the games, though.

Another sport that's great to watch is Australian Rules Football.

The problem is, all these sports already exist, so our opportunity to get in on the ground floor and make billions is pretty much gone. That's why we have to start fresh.
