I've heard of persuasive writng, but don't you need to site sources more recent than a decade ago?

I was telling someone this weekend that I (was the guy who) bought his "12 bar blues" solo album, and that I remembered it being ok. So I pulled it out yesterday and put it in while I was driving, and it wasn't long before I thought to myself, "what was I thinking?"
