Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez can’t afford to move to D.C. before her job starts

No savings, huh, bitch? Can't AirBnB? How soon before you start begging for a housing handout?

What a great example for young people to aspire to.

https://news.vice.com/en_us/article/...BcHuwpoXRpwwIc

Quote:
Millennial congresswomen, they’re just like us. No, really, this one is.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the democratic socialist and youngest woman ever elected to Congress, can’t afford to rent an apartment in Washington, D.C. before her job starts in January.

“I have three months without a salary before I’m a member of Congress. So, how do I get an apartment?” Ocasio-Cortez, 29, told the New York Times. “We’re kind of just dealing with the logistics of it day by day, but I’ve really been just kind of squirreling away and then hoping that gets me to January.”

Ocasio-Cortez shocked the country when she secured a primary victory over New York Rep. Joe Crowley, the 10-term incumbent who was widely believed to be the most powerful Democrat in the House after Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. Before she turned to politics, Ocasio-Cortez worked as a bartender.

Now she’s telling voters not to worry about her housing situation.

“There are many little ways in which our electoral system isn’t even designed (nor prepared) for working-class people to lead,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “This is one of them (don’t worry btw - we’re working it out!)”

Ocasio-Cortez is widely viewed as an up-and-coming star in the Democratic Party in the wake of her surprise win, fueled in part by her leftist policy ideas, which more closely align with millennial voters than her future congressional colleagues. She believes, for example, in single-payer healthcare and has suggested taxing Wall Street to fully fund public universities. She also supports “clean campaign finance,” and has said she will not accept corporate donations.

Does she look like a psycho in this pic?
Yes Doug. The last two pics where she is not showing her chompers she does look a little less psycho. However, the psycho is mostly in her eyes IMO. But I will modify my original statement to say that if she can manage to not open her mouth and not directly look at a dude, if he is drunk or high enough, he would likely take her home.

Of course when he wakes up the next morning sober and tied to the bed surrounded by dead chickens with crap wrote on the walls in pigs blood and his junk in a bowl on the night stand, he better not blame me for not warning him!!

That would be a hell of a price to pay for one night of fun.

The name calling is demeaning to the posters doing it. Alexandria is hot, and way out there on the hot/crazy scale as evidenced by her own statements, but in no way should we be calling her the names used in this thread.

Some people don't know how to handle beautiful women.

These are the kids who, in school, would make fun of and taunt the girls they had a crush on.

I don't do the photography. I hire the photographer, the models, actors or people, any stylists, props, make-up etc then direct the shoot as an art director.

I do my own personal photography and I guess I like 50mm lens best. Or a zoom.

It makes her look like she's joined the elites where she can rip everyone off. Kinda' like Bernie Sanders owning three homes with one on Lake Champlain.

Usually those situations the person wears their own clothes. Maybe, this Ocasio-Cortez went out and bought it just because she wanted to look good in her interview and accompanying photoshoot.

For gosh sakes, the interview was even called " A No Nonsense Interview"

So you direct a photoshoot, but don't have any knowledge of the proper lenses to use in order to get the desired results of said photoshoot.

You're a graphics designer, but don't know the basics of photshop.

Interesting.

Not going to wade too far into this petty spat between the two of you, but a divide between creative and engineering isn't unheard of.

There are people with a knack for seeing how it needs to be, but no skill in how to get there.

And there are people with a knack for getting you anywhere you need to go, but no skill in planning or vision.

I don't need to. It's the photographer's job—not mine. That has nothing to do with photoshop what lenses the photographer uses. GDers use PS differently than photographers generally speaking. Not all. For instance I don't use Lightroom. For my needs I don't have to. If it's a studio shoot I don't build the set but they have to make to my specifications.

It's art directors and/or creative directors who come up with general concepts and direction, AD take it further and get it executed getting what ever team together that's needed including themselves.

What is an art director?

Sure, i understand that. But there's too much inconsistency here, with everything.

She worked at a print shop...but doesn't know the cost to produce certain prints, nor the methods to produce certain prints.

Claims to be a graphic designer, then clearly demonstrates she doesn't know the ground level basics of the most widely used graphics software in the past 20+ years. If you don't know how to graphic design, then you're not a graphic designer.

And if you don't know how to direct the photographer, then you're not really directing a photoshoot.

Bingo.

Different specialists get used, while someone overall must ensure the final result conveys the message of the client, ensures quality, remains in budget and delivered on-time. I am basically an idea person. Sure I can do page-layout, Adobe Illustrator and PS too. I just don't always have to do the grunt work.

ADs work in more than one kind of industry, where some functions differ too.

Detoxing sounds like he works for a low-end shit graphics outfit, where designers have to wear more than one hat and do everything because they can't afford division of labor using multiple pros.
