Although NOBODY is talking about it, there were three occasions that I spotted Elvis going to secondary (twice) and terciary (once) reads. With the exception of the mental error on spiking the ball, he had some great passes in the two minute drill.
At least in preseason, we're running the ball wide A LOT. I also noticed Cloud start up the middle and then juke outside for a nice gain. I haven't seen that in a long time. I don't have the stats, but it sure seemed to me that we had far fewer penalties this last game. I guess the only point I agree with you on is our D on third and long. We looked terrible. The question is, is it fixable? Luz seeing many different things so far this year... |

'Seeing' is key, I guess. It just sounded to me like the same thing. Since I couldnt see the directions of the runs or exactly how they turned out left me with a sour taste.
All in all, I guess Im pessimistic at this point. |

Don't get down, and I won't repeat the cliched preseason bit. Cloud is looking really good. Not necessarily is he the 2nd coming of Sanders or anything, but when was the last time you saw a Chiefs RB cut back and take the ball outside? I was stoked after I saw that play Luz. |

So Cloud might actually spice up the running game, eh? It is good to hear.
Was there anything positive in the passing game? |

The passing was pretty bland. Part of it was play calling, but some of it was Grbac. I'll tell you, he wasn't as good this game, but I'm liking Sly more and more. It could be possible to move him to #1 and move DA to #2 where he belongs.

Luz is right, Cloud was one. So was Anders and TRich. Now who do you go with?
I don't want committee, no matter how much Proctor does. Give me a 20+ times per game RB. |

I must have seen a completely different game than some around here. Anders is INJURED. I noticed him favoring the leg on several plays, as if he didn't want to plant on that foot. And he was limping the majority of the time between plays, if ever so slightly. Cloud has to be the man, and we have to give him the ball. No excuses. |

Without the benefit of seeing them in practice, I have to agree that Cloud looks better to me.

On a similar note...
TRich is an awsome runner with the ball, but we do NOT want to move him to HB. The real test of Raye's ability will be to see if he can design plays to put the ball in Tony's hands WITHOUT moving him. I think a Cloud/Richardson backfield where either is a true threat to run or receive would be FAR more dangerous than Alstott/Dunn. Luz i'm still very excited about our offence... |

Luz - While I agree that TRich is where he belongs, next you have to ask if Ray is intelligent enough to at least copy some plays from other's books and get him the ball instead of having him block all the time.
htismaqe - I didn't notice Anders limping, but now I will watch. Thanks for the info. |

I would agree that the challenge that an OC has is to:
1. Use your strength against the opponents weakness. 2. Get the ball in the hands of the best weapons on a consistant basis. 3. Vary the way to do #1 and #2. bk<BR> |

We added a great counter play. It's the same formation/steps as our quick FB run to the weakside we kept using in short yardage last year. Only now we fake the handoff to Tony and pitch it out to Cloud. Looked great and was good for about 7 yards.

See that's the things you miss when listening to the game on the radio or via 'Screaming' audio.
Im anxious to see the boys play. Unfortunately, it wont be until week 1. |
