The Jets had a clear starting job to offer and we didn't. I think we'll see Lockett re-sign and maybe another veteran after June 1. I also think not signing Hatchette will speed up our signing a defensive lineman though.

Anybody?

How about Carlton Gray, Jr.?

How about Mark McMillan, Jr.?

Any QB named Huard?

Be careful what you wish for.... :)

If we had a QB, one would think that the hiring of Vermeil might have made this interesting to some FA's. Instead all the FA are signing before they come to visit, which means that most don't even assume we are worth their time.

What a change from a few years ago where FA's wanted to come to KC.

KPhobia,

I heard that Mark McMillan Jr. is a full foot taller than his dad, and I know that Carlton Grey Jr. covers man to man better than his pop!!

Morph,
But in reality, we're only talking about Brad Johnson who didn't visit, and Doug Flutie who wasn't a high priority in the first place. Hachette visited, probably said he wants a starting job and Joe Horn money, and we said later dude...

Oleman47 - Not signing most of them is great, them not even taking the time to visit is another.

I think we should look at moving Cartlon Gray to WR. He has a knack for getting open. Last year did not see an opposing player within 5 yards of him. He will have to improve his ball hawking skills, because the football was never within 5 yards of him as well.

Dawolf - I suppose, it just seems like there has been more. I don't mind not signing FA's, it is normally not the best solution. Suppose I will feel a little better when I know where we stand with our QB, because right now I wouldn't expect many FA's are giving us a chance to be good anytime soon.

Two big events will bring fa's clamoring, the draft, and June 1st when most teams have to quit since they are out of money and needing to cut players. The high dollar, name recognition, will be all gone, just some young, cheap, sleepers left plus some of our own that couldn't find a home. Free Agency gives you two options, pay through the nose for an old gamble or take a chance on an untried sleeper reject. If the word is out on the street that you are only going cheap, you may have some no shows. It only means you didn't want them enough or they for sure would have been here.

DaWolf - Are there any FA QB's coming out of SF :)

Oleman47 - Paying too much for an aging veteran is a bad thing, I can't agree more. It gets a lot of teams every year. I guess I liked the years when we were able to get FA's who wanted to come here because of the fans, the city and he orginization. I think with the boo'ing of Elvis, the way we talk about people we cut and the way we fired Gun and maybe a little with Bam and Vanover that players don't really want to come here like they did at one time.
