I noticed there is a member of this board that goes by that name. There is another one by that name who is gaining popularity. Anybody know about him?

Goes by another name, and has over 1000 posts with that other name.

LOL - yeah, that would be Iowanian.

He kills me sometimes but the original Roy is still the king of crank calls. MUCH funnier than those jokers in the late 80's that crank called and it was filled with profanity. Roy D. is classic.

R.D. "By God" Mercer is a DJ at KMOD radio in Tulsa. His name is Brent & he is on the morning show. I haven't heard it yet but I'm told he even called Goldberg. He got the number from a Tulsa relative of Goldberg.

The original Roy D is pretty funny. His boy RRRraymon is a wuss though.

My favorite I think is photographing the dead goat.....many are gut busters.

the Original Roy Mercer is from East Tennessee-being on the road a lot in tour buses out Nashville, we were first entertained by him in the mid-80's-the original roy was an invalid with muscular dystrophy (I'm not sure about the disease, but it was bad and terminal) looking for ways to entertain himself. He started doing the crank call thing in about 87 and died in 94 at the age of 28. All these other guys are just ripoffs.

Oh yea, I forgot to add this-- His real name was Larry something-or-other.
Roy Mercer was one of the names he used when he made his crank calls. I work with a fiddle player from Pigeon Forge who knew the man personally.
