List seems to be based on star power, much more so than talent.

saw this the other day. made me think we have a pro bowler/or all pro player in nearly every position group. the only group that doesn't have one is TE.

OL grubbs
QB Smith (he made it as an alt in 2013 i guess)
Backs-Charles, Sherman
WR maclin
TE

DL Poe
LB Hali, Houston, Johnson
DB Berry

I'd also include sean smith and allen bailey as on the rise players. as they are both "pro bowl caliber" players.

The Jets.

The mother-****ing Jets have more talent than Dallas and KC. JFC, this is reeruned.

Just goes to show:

Coaching and/or one or two key pieces missing can hold you back.

absolutely. teams like the jets and bills are absolutely stacked, but the qb situation in both places killed both teams. along with the coaching in buffalo, and the coaching and team morale of the jets.

it's important to have a bunch of really good players but it's equally important to have average players at other positons, guys like cooper and lewis killed our defense in 2013. the 4 lineman not named hudson killed our offense in 2014, and the wr corp sucked both years. INB4 alex smith comment from someone.

Is Grubbs still a blue chipper? If the guy comes in and "produces" at an elite or near-elite level we got ourselves the steal of the offseason.

With the new cba and it's limit on practice time, coaching is now equally as important as talent in the league

You would have to get evaluations from true fans of each team to get a more accurate depiction on who 'blue-chippers' are.

Personally, I think our elite players based off recent play is:

Charles
Sherman
Maclin
Kelce
Poe
Houston
Johnson
Hali (He was still a FORCE in causing hurries)
S. Smith

That's 9, and 10 if Berry is playing. I'm not sure we can say Grubbs is still elite after last year, but he could regain form in this offense pretty likely.

That's a true contender with skill at every position group, and even more guys who could step into the list by next year.

That team IS loaded. And now Geno Smith had Chan Gailey leading him. The same Gailey who made Thigpen look good. I think the Jets make the playoffs this year.
