Since we're not drafting a QB, which is always a foregone conclusion, we're in position to take a chance. Ironically, this risk might mitigate some of the hurt from the Carr departure:

Janoris Jenkins, CB, North Alabama

If Richardson is gone, he'll be the most talented player available.

Might be a good pick as insurance in case Routt really is a corner who gives up a touchdown and a huge penalty every game.

When you factor in all 4, it's pretty good.

Lose Carr, but gain Routte, Winson, Boss, and Hillis.

That's a pretty exceptional haul.

And Brady Quinn. Don't forget Brady Quinn.

Pretty big risk but potentially no bigger reward (Tannehill developing into a franchise QB aside) at our spot in the first.

With the way things are shaping up in free agency, I think it unlikely that Richardson falls to 11.

Should he be there, though, signing Hillis would not deter me from draftin him.

That being said, Jenkins is certainly an option to seriuosly consider.

Even if Richardson is available? I'm wanting:

Richardson
Jenkins

One of the two will be there. The latter might be Adam Jones II, but I'm willing to take the chance since there isn't a clearly defined need (aside from QB).

Drafting Pacman Jones to play Dime/Nickel at 11 would be stupid.

the Talking Can 03-17-2012 07:18 PM

Jenkins could be a #1 cb down the road when Flowers contract is up....we're in a position to make a pick like that

perry could be the same thing...say hali starts to grind down in 3 years, we've got perry...plus we have no one the team right now to rush the passer besides hali and houston...if one of them is injured, ooof

this is why i don't want to waste a first round pick on a guard

You're drafting what you believe will be an eventual #1 CB, thus pushing Flowers to #2 and Rutt to safety, which I believe to be a viable option.

Titty Meat 03-17-2012 07:21 PM

If you aren't going to draft Tannehill and have to pick at 11 I think you go pass rusher. Hali goes down this team is ****ed. The Chiefs only had 29 sacks last year.

Not for me. We still have money don't we? Let's get a guard or center.

If we had not signed Quinn, I'd say they might now take Tannehill and let either him or Stanzi develop for a couple of years. Cassel is probably our starter for the next two years anyway. :(

We could release Routt after one year but Jenkins wouldn't have had to be rushed on to the field. That's not a bad plan.

this draft is wide open for the Chiefs.
