So hopefully Rivera does win so Guardian can come back and be results oriented act like that proves I'm wrong when it's something that's not really debatable. That'll at least make me laugh.

I hear what your saying but I watched the Matt Hamill fight, Bisping lost that fight but got the decision. I haven't seen him fight anyone else who would be a top 5 guy. I honestly can't remember any other fight of his besides Dennis Kang and he is no special sauce.

Screw the rematch. They just need to chalk that one up for Fitch and give him the title shot. Everyone including BJ knows who won that fight.

He lost against Hamill. I think we all know that. And he hasn't beaten any top tier fighters. Until he does, he's a second tier fighter.

And he won that fight last night off of an illegal knee then acted like a first class scumbag afterwards. I hope someone ends his career soon.

He sure did. That was a bullshit decision. Home town referees at work.

KcMizzou 02-27-2011 10:10 PM

I'm a big BJ Penn fan, my buddy hates him. Even he respected that fact that BJ basically acknowledged that Fitch probably won that fight. I'm not sure why BJ tried to beat Fitch at his own game. It caught him off guard at first, and was working well... but when Fitch adjusted, BJ should have backed off of it... and played to his own strengths. (Stay of the cage, box him... defend takedowns)

As much as I love BJ, I think he's about done. Not physically... his heart just doesn't seem to be in it any more. You could tell that from the post fight interview. He almost seems to be looking for a reason to retire.

He was by far the most talented BJJ practitioner in the UFC when he was in his prime. He's got a different pedigree than most fighters I think and that makes a difference. He was raised wealthy, that's kind of rare in the fight game.

TheGuardian 02-28-2011 09:11 AM

I don't think it's any of that.

BJ was great a few years ago but the fact is, competition eventually catches up to you if you're not a really tireless worker. BJ isn't a top tier guy and hasn't been for a while, but his rep still carries him as one. I mean, he just lost to Fitch who doesn't finish ANYONE and is as boring a fighter as there is in UFC. He got demolished by GSP, beat twice by Edgar. He's not one of the top 3 guys in his weight class(es) anymore.

I couldn't bring myself to buy that PPV. I am fairly certain that it didn't matter who won either of those fights. Bisping will not beat Anderson Silva if he gets a shot, and both Penn and Fitch have been roughed up by GSP already.

That would be the shit, if he can take him down I think he may win but it will be a boring fight if thats how it goes. More likely Machida will stay on his horse and run away, defend the shot and stay out of the clinch taking pot shots.

Bisping would get KTFO by Vitor.

Chael would just ruin him for 3 rounds, making him a bloody mess.

If you weren't in Springfield I'd just say we could split the cost and throw down a few.

I went to Fox and Hound this past one so I didn't have to pay but $5. Think Imma start doing that more often. Saves me some dough, I get to have a few, and I usually bring several women. It's good timez.

I used to go there all the time for UFC events. The food, generally speaking, is complete garbage there, but that's not why you go. Anyway, I stopped going there since Shogun introduced me to the HD stream from XME Forums for $3.50. Just can't beat that shit.

Yeah, I hear you. I can do that any time, UFC nights have always been about the fights. None of my friends are hardcore MMA fans and neither is my girl. I love being able to sit at home and watch the fights without dropping $50 on them.

Well I just did this one. I just appreciated not dropping $50 on the fights when I wasn't super interesting in the card. :)

Sanchez vs. Kampmann tomorrow night...ought to be a good fight.

Don't know about the rest of the card, I guess Dolloway v. Munoz has potential.

I like Diego, he's wierd and flaky but he's got a ton of heart and he fights his heart out in almost every fight I've seen him in ( except Hathaway) but I doubt he'll ever get to that level of winning a belt.

raybec 4 03-04-2011 10:34 AM

There were some good fights on the card, Sanchez and Kampmann really kicked each others asses and Munoz KO'd Dolloway although you could argue against the decision and the stoppage

Jones is tough, athletic and super talented, If Shogun shows up in shape he's almost unbeatable, it will be awesome should be a great fight.

TheGuardian 03-11-2011 09:53 AM

I don't see a scenario where either of them is dominant UNLESS Shogun's knee is not right. Bones is a bad man and if Shogun's not healthy.....

That's a lot of time off to get thrown in with a guy like Jones that has a type of side, speed and athletism that can't be duplicated in training. If Shogun would be coming off of a couple of title defenses in the last year over top guys I might think differently.

It's possible, but the guy has put on some dominating performances against each guy they put in front of him so it's hard to beleive the hype. He reminds me a lot of GSP coming up, of course he had to lose to Hughes once before getting over that hump, so maybe the same happens here. I just think we are in for a surprise.

It's not that I don't like Shogun, I just think we are seeing something special in Jones.

This basically, minus the Shogun being unbeatable, Jones definitely has a chance even if Shogun is healthy. All things considered I can't imagine 1.8-1 odds on Shogun not having value. Plus I don't really care, I love Shogun too much to not bet on him in this fight even though I'd be rooting for him big time anyways. The only thing that sucks about this fight is that it's a Bones fight where I can't root for him, lol.

Seriously though, I really dunno. I haven't listened to his interview yet because I've been doing something else for the past 20 mins when I found out. Did he say anything about that in there?

the interview

TrickyNicky 03-12-2011 01:15 PM

Can't listen to the interview but heres a summary from someone who has...

Quote:

Some key points:
"Ive never had a bad thing to say about Scott Coker" - Dana. LMAO!
Strikeforce will continue to run separately. Business as usual almost as if nothing has changed.
Strikeforce will honor its contract with its fighters and Showtime.
Possible to UFC fighters to go to Strikeforce. Dana didn't say if Strikeforce fighters will crossover. Fedor was specifically mentioned in this regard....he will stay in SF.
Signing of Pride was a bigger deal
Women will remain on SF roster.
Deal happened b/c UFC needed more fights.
Strikeforce's relationship with FEG will continue. Coker takes care of that...not Dana.
I'm glad it will remain its own promotion, but I still don't think it will be a lasting thing.

yep dana will not be able to keep his hands out of it.

but i would like to see fedor at LHW against everyone available.

fedor will probably retire now though, i think he REALLY hates dana.

i wonder what will happen with the HW tourn. now?
