This tour was one of the best things I did on my trip to Boston in 2013. I was on a work trip and convinced my crew that we should do the last Fenway Tour before the ALCS started. It was amazing. Couldn't go into the locker rooms, but the stadium was decked out, lights were on, they were practicing the national anthem and both teams were there. Detroit was BP. When we walled in the guide says if you need to go to the bathroom do it now, so I headed down to the mens room with a co-worker. On our we passed Justin Verlander, who was going to do a photo shoot for TBS. Then on our way back we passed Torii Hunter. Then when out on the Green Monster Cabrera started taking BP, so I just hung out there for a while. It was incredible.

2013 ALCS would have been about 6 months after the Boston Marathon Bombing. The bombing occurred several miles away from Fenway though.

These are cool. When was the last time a cart was used to bring in a relief pitcher?

The Nationals & Diamondbacks (maybe others) currently have bullpen carts & some of the pitchers do use them.

Boston Marathon bombing was by the Boston Public Library on Boylston St, very close to where our hotel was.

Yea I was there for the marathon in April. Those monuments on Boylston are kind of eerie. Amazing more people weren't hurt.

I know a young lady that ran it it when it occurred, she had already finished the race and was in an eating establishment when it happened fortunately.

I'll post a few vacation pics for you. On Friday my first tourist stop was a tour of Fenway Paaaaaak.

It's Fenway Pahk--not Paaaaak as if it's a long vowel "a" sound. Takes time to learn a new language. Don't forget to add an "er" at the end of words that end in the vowel "a." Like Tamper instead of Tampa.

That's where my studio was once located...right there in Copley Square. Used to step out to watch part of the Marathon's ending.

How was the traffic? I hear it is outrageously bad these days.

Yeah, but that's not all that far at 1.4 miles. I used to walk it when in school. My first school was practically next door to FP a block away and my 2nd school had a building across the street from it for a period of time where I had some classes.

Cool. My wife and ten year old took that tour in October. They loved it.

I grew up there, went to college there, worked my early professional years there, walked by Fenway Park more than you can count, went to games as a young teen and dated a guy who was friends with a Detroit pitcher who we hung out with after a game--and I've NEVER been on a tour of it. :(

I’ve never been on a stadium tour either. Not sure I would. But my wife and son were out there visiting family and they decided to do it. Said it was really worthwhile and enjoyable. So, maybe if I’m ever in Boston again, I’ll take the plunge.

Based on what I am seeing here, it sure looks like it. I was lamenting not having done so. When you're a local you take it for granted. Heck, I only did the Freedom Trail one month before moving South as I knew I'd not have another chance easily.

Cool thread and pics!

Did they talk about filming the movie “The Town” there?

Yes, they did. There were several movies filmed in Fenway. The scene where Kevin Costner and James Earl Jones go to a game in Field of Dreams, Brad Pitt in Money Ball sat in the seat the guy in the red had was in on that Press Box Picture, Jimmy Fallon in a movie was down on the left field line, and "The Town" was the movie where Fenway got robbed of the gate receipts. That was down right where they first take you inside for the tour. They showed us all that stuff.
