I like it, in the fact , even if it's not a homer every time, it's always got a few laughs. For his, fans, and that's who it's written for are a different breed. I don't want a dumbed down, mass audience, comedy go turn on "Mike and Molly.' for that crap. FX supports edgy programing, and have been better for it. "Justified"/ "SOA"/ "Nip/Tuck"/ "The Shield" for example. Sure a few misses as well, "Terriers"/ "Wilford"/ but nonetheless trying new stuff.

Wilfred was a miss early on with me, but I like it now.
The pot smoking stuff doesn't work so well for me, I don't 'get' it (can't relate), but the sexual humor... I actually haven't watched Louie since the episode with the old lady who died. That one just didn't work at all for me. But I've got the others dvr'd and might watch them now, now that I'm thinking about it. |
The episode with Bob Saget and Dane Cook was awesome. LMAO
|
Well, the episode with eddie was kind of depressing, but god damn that masturbation episode with the blonde chick may be the funniest thing I've seen all year.

Epic Louie last night. I'm talking O'Henry level shit.
Edit to Add: |
Wasn't too funny, too nervous that the boys weren't going to laugh. Very good though. Could have done without the duck nonsense.

Can't wait. Louis CK is the best comic in the business right now imo. I love "Louie" and I even loved "Lucky Louie" a lot too.

Yeah, I like all kinds. Do you like Led Zeppelin? I . . . don't . . . Do you like Van Halen? I don't know what you're . . . You don't like them, or you don't know what I'm talking? . . . I don't what you're talking about. What about Aerosmith? Whaaaa? . . . Steven Tyler, he was in Aerosmith Oh, yeah. He's a judge on American Idol. So sad, so relatable. |
Anyone watching this season?
The episodes have been pretty weird so far. |

Of course I'm watching. Last week's episode was one of the finest half-hours of television I've ever seen.

It's why most people don't care about movie reviews anymore. People feel disconnected with critics, and I suppose it is because critics care too much about the area in which they write criticism. It's more than entertainment to critics. Louie is a perfect example. It doesn't get great ratings. People wish it was funnier, that it was more comedy-driven. But many critics think it's a top 3 show on TV. They aren't trying to be contrarian. Their tastes no longer match the general public. Both approaches towards tv or film or etc. are totally valid, even if people from one approach hate people who take the other approach. |

I've seen discussion on other forums about the differences between invested viewers and relaxation viewers. The lament is that some TV programming has become so good that it's no longer a veg-out pastime. So there's still a sizable contingent of the viewing public who opt for the familiarity of L&O and CSI, or watch the 'good' shows for the explosions or slapstick.

LOL
They hate me in Kansas City... |
Kansas City is the worst city is North America, and that includes Mexico and Canada.
LOL |
Yeah, WTF Louie? I used to think he just had to pick a random city, and KC was the unlucky choice, but he was pretty specific... "Stanford and Sons"
|
Not the first time Louie has blasted KC:
http://www.pitch.com/plog/archives/2...ght-show-video But hey, he thinks the people that live there are nice, so that's a good thing...I guess. |
He must have had a really bad experience in KC or something.

Daddy's Girlfriend 1 & 2 were really amazing. Parker Posey played a perfect crazy lady. And Louie played it up perfectly in that he knew she was crazy, but was having so much fun he couldn't really fault her for being crazy. I just really enjoyed the whole dynamic they had going there.

Awesome ep. I so just want to take off to China and wander around.
|
That warmed my tiny, shriveled heart.
|
It was perfect.
|
I love this show.
|
How in the world did I miss this entire season. Me=fail.
|
I haven't seen a frame of the 3rd season. Just got caught up on the first two seasons on Netflix.
But, I think this is an outstanding show. Easily one of my favorites right now. Top 5 absolutely, probably top 3. Season Two started off a little wonky for my taste. But it quickly improved. I laughed, out loud, harder than I expected, but I love how subtle and human the show is. It's best when it's more than dick and fart jokes - which, I thought, were pretty heavy bookends to the show. Also, Reaper's right. |

The doll scene was some of the funniest tv I've seen in a long time.
I still can't figure out if he's miserable, though. Ultimately I don't think he is, I think he loves NY (which is what made the trip to China so interesting/wrenching; he had to get out of a city he clearly has great affinity for). He loves his daughters. He just can't seem to get over the hump...but doesn't really seem to care. The show kinda seems to just boil down to little more than a show about middle-aged malaise from a guy that should probably be more successful than he is but doesn't seem too broken up about it. Then again, apathy can be viewed as a form of depression... Eh, !@#$ it, I like it and that's about all that matters. |

I love this show.
He might be the most honest comic ever about what people love, fear, and hate... |
2 good episodes last night. I particularly liked the 2nd one. He went from a trainwreck situation to a dream situation back to an even bigger trainwreck situation. I love his sick sense of storytelling lol.
|
The second episode was pretty funny. The end of the first episode was funny, too. Didn't really think the first part of ep 1 was funny at all. I understand the point he was making about the garbage men, and that was funny, but like a lot of Family Guy skits, it just went on too long.

How did you throw out your back???? Pointing to a dildo I wanted for masturbation.... hilarious. |
Had some good guest spots in those two. Aside from his comedian friends, Charles Grodin and Yvonne Strahovsky were great.
