When I look at the three offensive signings the Chiefs made a see a situation where the sum could be greater then the total of the individual parts.

250lb RB/FB+TE+RT all working together = massive improvement for this team.

LMAO

This is what we've been reduced to, Pioli. We're having orgasms because of RTs. Thank you.

(It's a great signing, though.)

When you factor in all 4, it's pretty good.

Lose Carr, but gain Routte, Winson, Boss, and Hillis.

That's a pretty exceptional haul.

True, but this does restore a little bit of respect for Pioli IMO. Who really knows why Manning snubbed us, but this was a guy we needed to get, other teams wanted him and we got it done. Whatever else happens or doesn't happen in FA is fine with me now.

Getting Routt before FA started became a steal when you look at what the other CBs gave been signed for.

Hmm, 5 might've been better, but 4 also hedges against a downward trend. Hopefully we get all 4 healthy, great years from him.

Maybe $29M total, say $18M gtd?

There's a real truth to that.

Hopefully Romeo embraces this identity, unlike Haley who never seemed to figure out what we had. If we can run at will - with this line and these targets - even Cassel might appear competent.

That's actually the problem.

With Charles to hand the ball to, and Thomas Jones effectively running it in the first half of 2010, Cassel looked competent.

It was an illusion, and that illusion can be recreated in 2012 with this cast.

The problem is that any good team can reveal the truth.

It isn't.

We're still a 1 and done team in the playoffs.

I was really looking forward to how many people were going to fall all over themselves, ignoring the "competition for Cassel" horseshit as well as the half-assed Manning chase and the Soliai miss once we signed a RT, backup TE and backup RB.

The guy still hasn't addressed the 2 biggest holes on the team - but lets all start sucking his dick...

I'll wait to hear on why Manning didn't sign here that's a strike for sure but Soliai? That's reaching. He had not interest in leaving Miami.

It's not all about Cassel. The same people who were bitching about Peyton Hillis were wanting us to trade for Brandon Marshall a few years ago. Point being no matter what move is made people overreact.

Well this team is solid. Needs depth in places but very solid.

With Cassel we may win some games. If we had Peyton we'd win the Super Bowl.

Next year too.

But given what we've done in the past I'm pleased with what we've got...

What pick was Mankins? I wouldn't draft DeCastro at 11 but if you trade down it's not that bad of a pick. I think we draft Kulechy though seems like a Pioli guy.

Hammock Parties 03-17-2012 05:59 PM

No points for this. Good signing, but Pioli's last ditch effort to get us a RT since he had failed by every other method. The equivalent of a 40-year old virgin ****ing a diseased 400 pound hooker.

he was like 24 or later...and they have Brady, so you can basically draft what the **** ever

Not only this, but that illusion is more than enough for a majority of Chiefs fans (and apparently the front office) to be perfectly fine with Cassel for awhile afterward. I've seen people as recently as a month ago post things like "He was a Pro Bowler" and "We won the division with him" on the Chiefs' Facebook page when someone comments that we still need a QB.

I'll be entirely honest, I almost wanted us to not sign anyone and go into the season with a garbage OL so that when Cassel looked like crap, there would be more than enough evidence to ship him out. Now, it looks like he's here for at least one more season as the unquestioned starter...

I do like the Winston signing. But I can't get too excited considering the QB he'll be protecting.

You do know that if we addressed the issues you mentioned (and I believe we will in the draft or FA) that we will be arguably the most complete team in the leauge?

I would give Polio props for making this team a player or two away from being a dream or a perfect team.

As opposed to using it on a NT that couldn't excel in the Sun Belt competition?

DeCastro is a fine pick, even at 11. He doesn't play a premium position, but at least he plays it well. His position is no less important to our offense than Kuechly as the Ted linebacker would be in Romeo's defense. And DeCastro is a better prospect relative to his position.

We need to trade down, but if we can't, taking a guy that is likely to be a HOF caliber player in a couple of years isn't the end of the world. I'll take another Will Shields at 11...

Sassy Squatch 03-17-2012 06:06 PM

IDK about that. He certainly has failed in the Cassel area and thats the one that matters. This signing did come because of mistakes he made, but atleast he saw it and fixed it. Imagine if he acted the same way about the QB spot? Thats his problem and I am guessing thats your real problem as well. If we had a real QB we could say, well he fixed his mistake at RT and be pumped about the season, instead of talking about Quinn.

milkman 03-17-2012 06:11 PM

I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around taking a guard at #11 overall.

It is just a waste of value.

Guard is a position that you can find talent in every round more consistently than almost any position on the field.

It's kind of funny for the franchise as a whole: it's taken them nearly a decade to find a RT.

Not interested in McNeill with the addition of Winston, but Schwartz would be a great addition to compete inside for a guard spot, and be depth behind the tackle spots.

whoman69 03-17-2012 06:35 PM

Good signing, line should be complete. Get some depth in the draft or maybe upgrade on Lilja. Concentrate on defense. We just have to call QB a fail this year. Our only hope is that Stanzi really impresses.
