Correct.

Playoff Patrick is different.

And this year...he may be VERY different.

Hate to say it, but Mahomes needs to show some Brady.

Brady’s been around the league long enough that he knows working the refs gets results. He’s constantly bitching and moaning to the refs. It makes him an insufferable prick, but it works.

Mahomes should do the same, even if he becomes less likable.

Maliek Collins #96 Texans is a KC kid. played at Center HS and was also undefeated state champion wrestler. That must be how he learned to sling someone like that. Should have been a personal foul to put that much oomph into slinging a player into the ground.

Rachaard White, rookie with Bucs, also went to Center HS in KC. He fumbled returning the opening kickoff when Chiefs played Bucs this year. So each of them had memorable plays against their hometown team.

T-post Tom 12-19-2022 03:26 AM

Cheffers and Maliek Collins should both be fined and/or suspended. They both smell of elderberries!

RaidersOftheCellar 12-19-2022 05:56 AM

I particularly liked when the defender was flagged for getting shoved to the ground by a receiver.

I also don’t think Smith-Schuster’s “fumble” was legit. The ball didn’t pop loose until he hit the ground.

Loved that blindside block on the same play lolz give them the ball and 15 to kickstart the drive. Ye ole 14 point swing mateys!

The blindside block was not made by the referee Cheffers, it was called by the side judge.

Except for Romo, every CBS non play-by-play guy always says the referees original call was great unless there is an overturn or a replay makes it clear that the call was wrong.

Don't know what McKinnon play you are talking about? who was the player called for the penalty?

I'm good with no call on the Pacheco losing helmet. There was no grabbing of the facemask. What call do you think they should have called? If it is not a clothes line tackle or a actual grabbing of the facemask cage or earhole, I don't think it is a penalty unless excessively violent.

The flag was against McKinnon on a Mahomes scramble and I haven't seen a replay of Pacheco getting his helmet ripped off but the dudes hands were at the front of his helmet and I don't think it's possible to remove his helmet that violently without using his facemask.

I think the McKinnon call may be the JuJu fumble. Looks like a legal block because McKinnon's belt buckle was facing the end zone the Chiefs were attacking and not the one they were defending.

McKinnon did not use much force and the defender saw McKinnon before the contact and delivered a blow to McKinnon that knocked McKinnon down.

I could understand why a dumbass official that is on a dumbass crew would miss the call, but that McKinnon block on that play was not the type of block that the rule was intended to prevent.

Punwit 12-19-2022 09:54 AM

You are correct. I was wrong about which play it was.

Punwit 12-19-2022 09:59 AM

The thing is that this crew had litany of terrible calls that were definitely lopsided in Houston's favor and it's ok to acknowledge they sucked and not strain for justifications for their putrid performance.

That crew sucks in general and throws way too many flags.

No doubt they sucked. Put as for extending drives on 3rd down penalties on passing plays. The Texans were playing that Lovie Smith Tampa 2 zone scheme and not using hands before the ball got there, they were trying to hit the intended receiver and cause incompletions or turnovers.

If the other team is not using hands on receivers and the officials are calling DBs using hands on receivers, change your technique and stop getting penalty calls.

It was poor officiating and it was one sided, but one sided on pass defense starts to become the Chiefs fault if they do not adjust for the way pass defense is being officiated.

Mecca 12-19-2022 10:15 AM

Carl Cheffers has a massive issue with Travis Kelce and likely the fan base after the Raider game.

You saw a ref crew make it personal yesterday.

penguinz 12-19-2022 10:21 AM

22% of Chiefs penalties have come in the two games Cheffers has called this season.

Meatloaf 12-19-2022 10:33 AM

If I was Clark, I would quietly "suggest" that Mr Cheffers never, ever again call a Chiefs game. End of story.

louie aguiar 12-19-2022 10:34 AM

NFL officiating is broken. Mahomes is the face of the NFL. They need to protect him. How does he not get that call?

Grateful for the win, and the Division title - but they need to get shit cleaned the **** up. Been extremely sloppy for a few weeks now.

****ing defense has given up season highs in points to the two worst offensive teams in back to back weeks.

I'll never doubt Mahomes, but the rest of this team needs to do some soul searching.

There's always that one bundle of sticks...

If you are fixing games, the entire crew would most likely be involved. This way no one can out another... or they are all just incompetent and like to throw flags and create controversy...

chiefforlife 12-19-2022 04:54 PM

If you havent seen the Tim Donaghy story on Netflix, you should watch it.

The NFL is the only league where NO Official has ever done anything wrong.

Watch that show and then tell me theres no way that happens in the NFL.

Its not fixing games, its more like steering them. Of course there are officials who dont like certain coaches or teams or players. Its human nature. Gambling is human nature. Wanting to make a ton of money is human nature.

There are plenty of ways the NFL could fix this but they dont!

They could make everything reviewable, afterall isnt it more important to get it right?

They could allow Coaches to challenge anything?

They could have someone in New York watching the games (Dean Blandino) who weighs in on controversial calls and is able to over ride decisions based on many different camera angles that maybe the Ref didnt see.
This isnt a knock on officials as they only have one point of view. Its an effort to get calls right.

These would also prevent officials from "steering" a game.

Oh refs do things wrong and I don’t doubt that the NFL knows it. Problem is that if a player/coach/executive says anything the league fines them. With the popularity of the sport networks are fighting for rights to carry games. They won’t risk losing that after their contracts end.

I do agree that they should make everything reviewable. Not sure how much that would change things. Would coaches still be limited on challenges or would they get more?

thabear04 12-19-2022 07:25 PM

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the league has levied a $21,218 fine for unnecessary roughness against Houston Texans S Jalen Pitre. The fine stems from a big hit in the third quarter from Pitre, it came just a few plays before Smith-Schuster fumbled, which ended the drive and led to a Houston touchdown. Pitre was hit with a 15-yard penalty for unnecessary roughness on the play.
https://chiefswire.usatoday.com/2022...mith-schuster/

I think that was a bang, bang play, but Pitre did lead with helmet.

In addition to this being a typical Cheffers officiated game, I thought there was a lot of cheap shots by the Texans. I guess the Texans wanted to play tough, but it just seemed cheap and good officiating could have stopped that early in the game.
