Like somebody else said, had the Bills been up 21-3 when Hamlin went down, you can bet your ass they would have completed the game later.

non stop flights are similar in price for both cities based on my searching. i am not sure exactly how pricing flights works, but if you're seeing one city get increasingly higher, it's likely the result of more bookings taking place. if that's true, it could mean more bills fans are buying than chiefs fans right now. :(

It's weird to me that the NFL has so much interest in a small burned out rust belt city.

Seems like a pretty big gamble for anybody to buy tickets to Atlanta based on this. There are plenty of scenarios that various teams could host the AFCCG. Only one where it ends up in Atlanta.

Feel good story.

That said, Atlanta is probably the "fairest" place for this bullshit. Dome for all the high rollers, hub airport (a nod to the "little people" that have to fly commercial), and easy travels to the TV crews.

Atlanta is a connection city too. So flights are selling daily out of KC and Buf to the ATL with somewhere else as their final destination, primarily warm weather locations in the winter.

decibelup 01-12-2023 02:28 PM

For those that plan to trek to Atlanta, here's a list of fully refundable hotel options within walking distance from Mercedes-Benz Stadium. You can get all of your money back in the event that the Chiefs don't advance past the divisional round as long as you cancel end of day of the dates listed below.

Hotels are going fast, one of the Hyatts (Centennial) is already fully booked.

The dates below are for people who intend to check in Saturday and check out Monday. If you plan to arrive Sunday, additional options might be available (and you'll also be able to cancel by Jan 22nd instead of 21st for those labeled as such below.)

Can cancel by Jan 25th:
Hyatt Regency ($217/night)
Motel 6 ($123)
Courtyard By Marriott ($302)
Barclay Hotel ($105)
W Atlanta Downtown ($277)*
Ritz-Carlton ($457)*

Can cancel by end of day Jan 21st (ie after Chiefs outcome known if it's a Saturday game):
Crowne Plaza ($136)
Staybridge Suites ($141)*
Holiday Inn Express & Suites ($159)

* = limited inventory.

The following hotels are NOT within walking distance, but are 2-10 miles away from the stadium. in many cases they are cheaper. all of these have fully refundable booking options with option to cancel by Jan 25th:

grand hyatt in buckhead ($169)
holiday inn express - emory ($187)
embassy suites hilton midtown ($276)
kimpton sylvan hotel ($179)
courtyard by marriott buckhead ($134)
hampton inn atlanta galleria ($153)

hotel indigo atlanta midtown ($194)
the georgian terrace hotel ($221)
artmore hotel ($103)
holiday inn express & suites airport ($134)
staybridge suites airport ($142)

RaidersOftheCellar 01-12-2023 02:28 PM

This won't matter. Cincinnati will be coming to Arrowhead.

Toronto is the answer to that.

About 2 Hours from Buffalo, and a lot of Bills fans there due to proximity. Also the 4th largest population in North America (Behind Mexico City, New York, and LA)

That's just off of city proper populations, not sure on metropolitan area, but I can't imagine its too different.

Hence why Toronto is a great place for an expansion franchise yet the Bills go nuts if it's mentioned.

It would split Buffalo's fan base, same reason there probably won't ever be another Texas team even though San Antonio is a good size city. Owners won't allow it to dig into their current profits.

I think I remember the Bills playing some games in Toronto for a few years around 2010 now that I think about it.

you can buy fully refundable airline tickets.

Southwest, JetBlue, Delta, United, American all offer refundable options.

So using Delta as an example, if you check "refundable" you'll be offered a round-trip flight for $678.

A non-refundable ticket is 100 bucks cheaper at $578 but you're out the full amount if you can't use it.

Southwest is likely the easiest airline (but they have serious issues of late, you might have seen!)

I booked a fully-refundable flight using United.

I can buy tickets tomorrow at 9 am. I have pretty good priority. I’d love to go but rest of people I normally go to games with can’t plus wife has to work. So if I buy tickets in morning I’d pass them along at cost to a chiefs fan that’s going, not gonna flip em. Trying to get as many of us there as possible. So if you’re interested drop a note but only if you’re going and a chiefs fan. May be hard to police this but I can try.

69, according to the NFL’s stats of it. I only know that because they showed a graphic of longest air-yard throws from the past several years during a Bills game.

You’re right that it was a sick throw though.

It won’t be that hard. Just try to sell to someone with a join date before 2018 and you should know for sure you have a real fan representing in the stands. Really cool of you to do as well. :thumb:

I plan on going to the Championship game whether it's in ATL or KC. Just me and the pops, unfortunately he's a Bill's fan.

While a join date prior to 2018 sounds good. I was actually on the Arrowhead Addict forum for quite some time, until that shut down and needed a new forum to lurk in. Hence the low post count and late join date!

It occurred to me that if this Atlanta game does come to pass, it would be a bit ironic, since Atlanta got screwed out of hosting the 2021 MLB All Star Game over stupid woke bullshit. Of course in that case it was strictly political.

Certainly makes me wonder if that factored into the site selection. God only knows what goes on behind the scenes.

The NFL will change the playoff rules again by making this a staple moving forward. Just like college having each conference championship in a predetermined location, they’ll do it for the NFC and AFC championship games.

Definitely Interested! Live about an hour and half north of Atlanta in Chattanooga. Huge chiefs fan.

I was a bit surprised that Atlanta got it, considering they just hosted the SEC Championship game and then the National Semifinal just a couple of weeks ago.

I intend on making the three hour drive to Atlanta to attend.

The NFL will change the playoff rules again by making this a staple moving forward. Just like college having each conference championship in a predetermined location, they’ll do it for the NFC and AFC championship games.

And that's when I quit the NFL. Or rather, thats wjen the NFL leaves me behind Some things just need to be left alone. To me, earning HFA is one of them.
