A shitty QB who consistently struggles to throw for more than 100 yards in a game is like a cancer to a team.

If your best friend has cancer and everybody is hoping that it will go away, do you say, "Hey guys, the cancer belongs to our best friend. If you want it gone, why don't you go be besties with his ex-wife? It's where you belong."

Cassel seems to me to be a guy who needs early success to build confidence. If the O can get rolling in the game, he's going to play well. If they struggle, well, its over.

NOPE!

This team will never do jack shit with Cassel at the helm. The guy has heart, but lacks talent and awareness that is desparetly needed at the QB position. Not to mention proper throwing mechanic, ability to read a defense, accuracy, the ability to not shit oneself when first viewing an opposing team's helmet, an understanding of what the basic rules of the game are and what intentional grounding is, relative concept of the game strategy that turning a 2 yard sack into a 15 yard sack is indeed not a success, the list could go on and on and on.

No, I didn't, that's another reason why I wonder about it. Was he the same suck there too?

Cassel was a BEAST in NE. All he needs is some stability in the coaches and systems and WATCH OUT

He played with the greatest deep threat of all time and couldn't hit him down the field consistently.

He SUCKED in NE considering the circumstances. I watched them a lot that season because I had a roommate who was a NE fan. Same suckage we see from him now. When I venture to NE boards, I see about 85% praise for the guy whenever he is mentioned. It makes me wonder WHY?!?!?! He was awful! Shoot, he "led" a team that was undefeated going into the SB the year before to an 11-5 record. Yes, good record and all, but obviously this dude had some weapons that he wasn't working with in the manner that an elite QB like Brady could. I just came to the conclusion that 85% of NE's fan base is dumber than a bag of hammers.

I will never forget the night where I was at a bar and looked up at the TV and saw that we signed him. I was so freaking pissed. And I was whining about it all night and my friends kept trying to console me by saying, "Swaff, your overreacting, Matt Cassel is a great QB...look at what he did with NE." I would flip out and be like, "JUST WHAT EXACTLY WAS SO *****ING SPECIAL ABOUT WHAT HE DID IN NE?!??!?!!" Cassel-love is mind-boggling.

I'm so sick of the name Dilfer when people say you can get to the SB with an average QB. That was a historical defense. The Chiefs defense is good, but it's not THAT good.

Yup, took an undefeated team and couldn't get them to the playoffs.

 Ya 11-5 record, 3,700 yards and 21 TDs in his first ever year starting.

The ole "he's got fire" complement.

The kiss of death. That's what people say about you when you have no talent.

loochy 03-20-2012 10:45 AM

He cares. He really sucks and has no hope, but he cares.

I am not paying for Sunday ticket this year if he is the QB, period. **** Cassel, he has a lot of heart, but no talent. If people don't realize that after watching Kyle average Orton, I can't help it.

Maybe that's not how I should have said it.

Look, there have been times when Cassel has looked like a legit QB. When you have a swinging gate at RT, lose your TE and lose your pro bowl RB things are not going to look good.

rico 03-20-2012 10:47 AM

The OP is a "Donkey Trainer" could potentially be a great reason why they want Cassel.
