Playing RT is a lot to ask for Wylie.

Third string RT.

Play him as guard and he does better but I love Wylie as a Chief just cuz gotta love him. He sucked in the Super Bowl but I still love him as a man doing what he can to protect Patrick Mahomes II to compete and dammit for ACME products.

Lucky the refs weren't flag-happy with the holding calls over on that side.

mnchiefsguy 11-15-2021 03:09 AM

He was not good, but he was not that bad.

I love how he set up Kelce for a number of catches though....Kelce would chip block and then be forgotten and was wide open a few times.

I think as long as he has help he can be okay....but it would better to get Niang or Remmers back healthy ASAP,

PHOG 11-15-2021 07:15 AM

He handled Crosby better than I imagined, with some help at times also.

Sassy Squatch 11-15-2021 07:17 AM

Lol Kelce wasn't even chipping. He outright blocked Crosby a few times

Dunerdr 11-15-2021 07:26 AM

Is it just me or did it seem like they played with an understanding that he was going to lose almost every rep.

One lineman can typically not affect the outcome of the game that seriously. That said, Cam Erving tried to make the counter point to that argument when he was here.

Wylie did what he needed to do last night. He was not good, but he did not get Mahomes killed. Good enough.

Hopefully he will be back on the bench next week and Niang is back in there. But being that we have a bye after next week, I’m fully expecting another Wylie start at RT next week so that Niang and is good to go and healthy after the bye.

Luckily, the Cowboys are without Randy Gregory, their best edge rusher, so that helps. Hopefully the Chiefs will help him out with Lawrence when needed.

If he plays next week like this week, we should be okay for one more game.

Just don’t get Mahomes killed. That’s all we ask.

RedRaider56 11-15-2021 08:16 AM

Chiefs had someone helping Wylie almost all night. Chipping, double teaming etc.
There were times when Mahomes is hitting the top of his drop and Crosby was already coming clean, forcing Mahomes to ad-lib.
Wylie didn't get Mahomes killed but I chalk that up to the scheme of sending help, vs. winning one on one battles.

I thought he did a pretty good job on Crosby!!! Still will be glad to get our Niang back!

In the passing game, it looked that way. Hence the passes to Kelce right after he blocked Crosby.

In the running game, they wanted to run behind Wylie several times. Not sure why. It didn't go well.

I haven't paid attention.
What's the time frame on Remmers and Niangee?

KCUnited 11-15-2021 09:25 AM

Wylie struggled as expected but Orlando Bloom on the left side continues to improve.

That is what coaches and playcallers are supposed to do if there is a mismatch, make a plan that gives the player some help.

One thing about Marty's teams. Most of the time when they faced a superstar or had a front line Chiefs player hurt, they would design plays that tried to keep the mismatch from being a problem.

Remmers is out at least 3 weeks because he’s on the IR.
