It was 5 years for 38 million, but Pioli had a coupon for 20 percent off.
Who knows, maybe we can afford Manning. |

Dolphins didn't have much cap room. Ravens re-signed McKinnie Rams signed Wells Redskins already spent a lot of money Lions don't have much money Looks like all the stars aligned. |
Now watch him land on PUP when training camp starts due to that ankle.

compare that to nicks contract for a guard
f'n crazy |
I was expecting a lot more than that. Its a good thing Winston seemed to want to play in KC.

Pioli is a master at getting blood out of turnips with the contracts he signs. |
Wonder if that's what the hold up was all about.
|
Heh.
Carrington Harrison @cdotharrison Pioli must have given Winston another 10 mil in Jack Stack gift cards that has gone unreported. nick wright @getnickwright Chiefs got Eric Winston for 4yr for 22 million?!? Well I'll be damned if that aint dollar for dollar best signing of offseason in all of NFL |
I can see why Pioli was a coveted guy coming from New England. I want to like the guy it's just too bad he won't get us a ****ing QB.

Didn't they release him so they could create more cap space to re-sign Williams?

Good point. Any signing to upgrade RT is a win, of course, so I welcome Winston with open arms. Not a hug or anything, but open arms. |
This was a move Scott Pioli had to make, I bet you Cassel is gonna sleep a lot easier at night! Great move Pioli!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best thing is, we signed this guy, and still have a shit ton of money available if we need it.
Great job Scott. Really made me look like an ass for my rant yesterday. |
Isn't Wimbley visiting?
|
If we could get Wimbley for a deal like this. HOLY MOLY>
|
Wow. Pioli deserve a lot of credit for this contract. Impressive to say the least.

Eric Winston @ericwinston
Thanks for the warm welcome Chiefs. Looking forward to next year and beyond. |
How can we get this guy on a great contract like that but someone like Manning won't even visit?
I do like this and the Hillis signing. |

If Decastro is there and you think he can be a 10 year all pro, take him in a heartbeat.
If he is gone, take the sickest most gifted athletic football player on the board, that isnt a workout warrior that can just make plays. |

Winston's contract has me worried they gave something like $15M to Quinn.

Post.
I'm now part of this thread. Go Chiefs. |

I'd assume Quinn got peanuts

The Chargers ended up with the better backup QB.

It doesn't matter. Cassel will be starting. A year of his youth wasted trying to block for that embarrassment of a QB.

Eric Winston - T - Chiefs
The Chiefs' contract with Eric Winston is reportedly a four-year deal worth $22 million. Winston was asking for top-five tackle money, so it sounds like the market was unwilling to meet his demands. It's a relatively low-risk investment for a player who can come in and immediately make an impact. Winston finished as the league's No. 11 tackle by Pro Football Focus. Source: Profootballtalk on NBC Sports Mar 17 - 10:01 PM Hell of a deal for the Chiefs. |

I think Jack Stack BBQ should get part credit for the signing. |
I just got kicked out of a bar in Westport for punching a guy in the face that flipped off my wife. I'd been drinking since noon and it ruined my night...then Pioli goes and does something like this...and totally redeems himself.
|
Better stay out of the Chicago bars Brandon

What a deal! I was expecting us to have to pay much, much more for his services. Maybe the other teams dropping out near the end made him cheaper?
|
Im guessing the ankle played a bigger role in these negotiations than expected. How the 11th best tackle in the league doesnt get offered more money is not easily explained otherwise.
Either he REALLY wanted to be in KC, or there just wasnt a better offer out there. Its going to be great to get back to seeing Chiefs teams with a great offensive line. It was their trademark for so many years, and then it just crumbled. |
I thought he was Brandon Marshall

Signing bonus? Myers, the Texans Pro Bowl Center just signd a 4 year $25 million deal and their Guard, (forgot his mname) who they lost, signed with Oakland for 4 years $20 million so it's on par with other good lineman. It's a good deal for both. |
