Royals discussing other trades

But wait, there might be more movement coming from the Royals, who have now dealt Mondesi and outfielder Michael A. Taylor in the past 24 hours. According to ESPN, the Royals have also discussed trades that involve utility player Hunter Dozier and infielder Nicky Lopez.

Dozier, a 31-year-old potentially signed through the 2025 season, has failed to make good on what appeared to be a breakout season in 2019. He's posted an 89 OPS+ over the last three years while bouncing around the corner positions. Lopez, 27, is under team control through the 2025 season. He too failed to build upon what was a banner season in 2021. His OPS+ dipped from 104 to 58.

The Royals have a glut of young position players either in the majors or on the way, making them an obvious candidate to ship out at least one more hitter between now and Opening Day.

They may, but they shouldn't. Barlow has some value, although he did have a noticeable drop in velocity last year. Dozier is just a sunk cost. We may really see how cheap the Royals are going to be. If they trade them as a pair it is purely cost control and nothing to do with trying to get better.

Kansas City has issued demolition permits for several buildings in the East Village, one of the top sites under consideration for a new downtown baseball stadium.

Crews have already begun tearing down the former Wiltshire Apartments building, a four-story brick structure at 10th and Holmes streets. Earlier this month, the city also issued pre-demolition permits for several other buildings in the East Village: the Della Lamb building at 1000 Charlotte St., the former Blackstone Hotel at 817 Cherry St. and a parking garage at 815 Cherry St.

The moves are the most visible sign in years of impending change for the long overlooked area of downtown — and underscore the belief of many that the neighborhood is the Kansas City Royals’ top choice for a new stadium.


“If I really had to make a bet and say to everybody today where that new stadium is being proposed, I am going with the East Village,” said Chris Stritzel, a developer who noticed the demolition of the Wiltshire building while walking around the area this week.

Anyone paying attention would know that the stadium is going in East Village and has been since the beginning of the discussion. The general public will lightly follow the press releases that different sites are being considered but this thing has been decided since Sherman bought the team. And I'm good with it...just saying.

Why would Vegas be a threat? From the sounds of it the Oakland As aren't getting anywhere close to the amount of potential funding they'd expected from Vegas to move there.

MLB don't want to relocate when 2 expansion teams would generate 2 billion each or 4 billion total that the 30 owners would split.

Pitching might be a strength for us this year

I have a feeling a new pitching coach will do wonders for Daniel Lynch. He would show lots of flashes and then one bad inning would do him in and always got worse when Cal came out.

The fact that AJ Preller and the Padres were on him is reason to be optimistic. Preller is one of the best international scouting evaluators in the game.
