Hey, this is kind of enjoyable to watch. I don't know what I'm seeing here..
|
It's still early overall but Freddy Fermin looks like a player. Almost to 50 games and he's hitting .300 and playing like a 15 HR/75 RBI type catcher.
|
The Raytown Royals are the bees knees right now.
Fermin the Vermin cannot be stopped! |

I have to go through some of my Witt's next week. I am sending in a bulk order to CGC. Hopeful to get back at least 1 gold 10 label, but I doubt that will happen. |

Don’t look now, but BWJ’s overall OPS for the season is approaching .800

Bobby Witt is doing things no player has ever done and there have been so many games of baseball played that there aren't many things that have never been done before. He's legit carrying this team on his back.

Does Devin Mann have any chance of being the starter at 1B eventually over Nick Pratto?

2008 24 yr old 1.085 OPS - 32 year old Ross ****ing Gload who was OPSing .664 2009 25 year old .825 OPS - Dayton decides to trade Leo "that's not my name" Nunez for a yr of Mike Jacobs, who absolutely sucked shit OPSing .698. This trade was so ****ing dumb it's almost unbelievable. 2010 26 yr old finally gets his shot, OPS's .702 on the season, but over his last 27 games his 162 game pace was 35 HRs and 104 RBIs. During that last month he had an .878 OPS and it wasn't just luck, because his BABIP during that time was .295. He only got 47 starts that year, because once again Dayton was the stupidest mother****er running a team and just had to play 34 year old Jose Guillen instead of his young guys. 2011 - his time ran up, because Hosmer was in the bigs and Billy Butler was holding down DH. He got to play in 23 games that year. That was his last year here. He should have been given more playing time, but Dayton was obsessed with shit stain vets. God I hate him so much. Kila gets way too much shit for things outside of his control. The one stretch that he was able to get continuous playing time he absolutely raked. Dude was probably what Vinnie is. Kila could have been a good player, but Dayton ruined that. |
Fermin is a beast.

Royals might have found them a player in Fred

Salvy has looked alright at first base. Big Vinny might be a nice trade chip

#2. Start building the Fermin statue now.

Fermin > Barry Bonds

Phillies don't have a cart? Make their injured CF take 10 minutes to limp his way from the fence to the dugout because he messed his leg up.
|
Taylor, Blanco and Garcia all out here flying around the bases wrecking havoc. Royals baseball.
|
speed do what speed do
|
The Phillies that inning was like watching a children's baseball game.
|
So Bryce Harper just homered, but that is only his 6th HR in 78 games. WTF is going on with his sapped power?
|
The streak is over — and with it, most likely, the Royals’ postseason hopes.
They needed to win out to make the playoffs. |

Jose Ramirez just about knocked Tim Anderson completely out tonight.

Salvy just got knocked out of the game after getting HBP.
Fermin comes in from DH to catch. Means pitcher spot has to hit now the rest of the day. Is Greinke going to get to hit? |
Holy crap Michael Massey. Web gem of the year candidate.

Missed our shot. If the Royals had gotten one more hit last inning Greinke probably hits but it didn't happen. Pinch hit for him in the 5th. Might have been the last chance to see Greinke take an at bat.

He’s been good since about May 1. .775 OPS or something like that. Very playable with his glove … and it he’s .800+ you’ve got a really nice piece. |
Isbel is a stud in the OF.

McArthur with that solid 24.00 ERA. Great trade.

He really had an astonishingly bad first month of the season that has kept his numbers low. |
Drew Waters is also starting to look like he might actually be as good as he showed last year. He had an absolutely horrendous first 21 games and got his OPS down to .476, but over his last 35 games he's an .809 OPS and his 162 game pace during that time has him at 23 HRs, 74 RBIs, and 23 SBs.
He's really good in CF isn't he? This is what I was hoping to see, at least some steps forward and improvement. We've seen it from Bobby Witt Jr (23)., Maikel Garcia (23), Michael Massey (25) Drew Waters (24), and Freddy Fermin (28)(didn't expect anything from him). That's a lot of youth to get excited about and if Vinnie can come back without any lingering issues, then that's 6 pretty young guys with lots of control left. Just need the pitching to come around and hopefully they make a move to go after a couple pitchers. If our pitching wasn't so horrendous, then this is a terrible you could get pretty excited for next year if the other guys continue to do what they are doing. |
Melendez is only 24 too. I would not give up on him. He's not Moustakas but we can hope for a similar trajectory maybe, a big time HR hitter in the minors that took a little bit to adjust to the big league level. Melendez still definitely has pop in his bat and he takes walks but strikes out a lot. Him and Pratto still have a couple years to figure it out.
|
Not a ringing endorsement for former Royals bench coach Pedro Grifol.

His batted ball numbers are good even at the big league level. He strikes the ball well and he does it often. But he has a hole in his zone and he chases too much crap. So he can't put that raw power to use. I feel like the approach issues may be hard to get around but there has to be a mechanical change that can keep him from swinging through as many hittable pitches as he does. There's a lot to like in there but it's just not working. Hell, send him to Driveline or something. Have someone outside the organization work with him to see if they can untangle a hitch in his swing or something. That's the kind of guy a team like the Royals should be looking to acquire/repair but it doesn't do them any good if they can't diagnose/develop the guys from within their own system first. He's a canary in the coalmine to me. If the Royals can't figure out how to make a productive big league hitter out of Melendez, they need to make changes to their staff to address that. He's exactly the kind of player they need to be developing into a difference maker. They just can't afford to let players with his tools plateau and/or regress. |
supposedly MJ has made some adjustments...he started moving his hands away from his body etc...It has seemed to help some

My god. Why? Last 25 games 17 hits, 2 hr, 23 SOs, 9 BBs .183 BA, .267 OBP, .312 SLG, .579 OPS Really earned this promotion lmao. Has a .217 BABIP, so maybe he's hitting the ball hard? **** if I know. |
